(Xinhua) — A Chinese envoy on Friday expressed deep concern over rising tensions in the Caribbean, blaming U.S. military operations near Venezuela for destabilizing the region.

The United States has recently deployed forces in Caribbean waters off Venezuela under the pretext of combating drug trafficking, said Fu Cong, China’s permanent representative to the United Nations. CLICK HERE TO JOIN OUR WHAT’S APP GROUP

U.S. actions, including reportedly sinking Venezuelan vessels, shooting sailors, and seizing fishing boats, have led to continued regional tensions, he noted.

“The unilateral and excessive enforcement operations by the United States against another country’s vessels in so-called international waters infringe on the right to life and other basic human rights,” Fu told an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council.

“These acts threaten the freedom and security of navigation and could undermine countries’ rights on the high seas,” he added.

Fu said the actions “severely infringe on other countries’ sovereignty, security and lawful rights and interests,” calling them a grave violation of international law and a threat to regional peace and stability.

“China opposes any act that violates the purposes and principles of the UN Charter,” he said. “We oppose the use or threat of force in international relations, and the interference of external forces in Venezuela’s internal affairs under any pretext.”

Fu urged the United States to immediately halt what he called unlawful actions to prevent further escalation and not to “use the excuse of combating drug trafficking to jeopardize navigational security and the freedoms and rights they enjoy under international law.”

He added that China supports international cooperation in combating transnational crimes and called on Washington to pursue law enforcement and judicial cooperation through bilateral and multilateral legal frameworks.

  1. For years America has been poisoning the world with their “legal” drugs, food, water, clothes, kitchen utensils and every and anything you can think of. How can those murderers be anyone’s judge? They need to look at themselves. I pray that God will judge them soon.

  2. Sadly though, our people are well aware of our pitiful situation as Donald Trump and the United States continue to demonstrate that we in the Caribbean, especially black populations governed by black governments living in sovereign states are NOT worth respecting. And maybe they are right! Grenada, at present, is actually contemplating a US offer to become a key player in our own destabilization and destruction! Obviously this generation of Grenadians are prepared to desecrate the memory of Caribbean heroes like Maurice Bishop’s and gleefully adopt the role of Judas Iscariot in promoting self for a few dollars more. The PM there is quite young but one would imagine not too young to know and understand the history of the US IN THE CARIBBEAN. He is geographically close enough to T&T to understand his counterparts contempt for Black Caribbean Populations whose forefathers built and sustained Caribbean economies during the 16th – 19th centuries. Other ethnic groups were rounded up, not taken as slaves, from the streets of India and China. Kamala and her Guyanese compatriot have absolutely no qualms of conscience in selling their souls to the equally anti-black, racist regime up north. Meanwhile, in the other territories, our ignorant, simple, “massa” worshippers often (mis)led by greedy, self- serving politicians prefer to stand idly by, waiting for any spilled gravy to trickle from “massa’s” table into their filthy mouths! We, black people, are our own worst enemy!
