SOURCE: ANTIGUA OBESERVER- The family of Chantel Crump, the nine-year-old Five Islands Primary School student who was kidnapped and murdered last month, is preparing to lay her to rest on June 10 — just one day after what would have been her 10th birthday.
Chantel’s death sent the nation into mourning following an intense three-day search involving police and hundreds of community members. Witnesses reported seeing the child being driven away in a vehicle which she entered less than a minute’s walk from her home.
Tragically, the search ended in heartbreak when her body was found in the old Weatherills plantation on March 15.
Last Thursday, more than 100 people gathered at the Keithley Sheppard Recreational Park for a candlelight vigil in memory of Chantel, walking in solidarity with her grieving family.
There, her father Ernest Crump said although he did not get the outcome he wanted, he was glad that her body was recovered and trusts that he will get justice.
“One day at a time and I know I will get my justice,” he told the crowd.
Crump described his daughter as the “live spark” of their home — a phrase that now brings him both pride and pain, as the family prepares to say their final goodbyes.
The investigation into Chantel’s death is ongoing and 20-year-old Angela Meja is in custody at His Majesty’s Prison, having been charged for the young girl’s murder.

When is this princess going to get justice?
Why is the funeral in June?
This one still hurting. Rest easy, Chantel. Strength and comfort to the family.
Sleep in perfect peace, baby girl. You touched more lives than you knew.
I hope there’s healing in the farewell, even though the pain still fresh.
What were the results of the autopsy? If the government and Gaston is supposedly paying for all the funeral expenses why is it way in June?
