Central Board of Health Rodent Awareness Week of activities

The Central Board of Health (CBH) has wrapped up its Rodent Awareness Week, thanking residents and businesses across Antigua and Barbuda for their support during the island-wide campaign.

The week of activities focused on educating the public about rodent control, proper waste management and measures to reduce infestations in homes and communities. CBH urged households to put the lessons into practice, stressing that maintaining clean surroundings remains essential to lowering rodent populations.

As part of the initiative, CBH teams set traps in several communities — including Grays Farm, Browne’s Avenue, Potters, St John’s Village, Point and St John’s City — to assess rodent activity. Officials said the cooperation of residents in these areas was key to gathering accurate data.

The Board also extended thanks to businesses such as Perry Bay Supermarket, Townhouse Mega Store, Chase Supermarket, Woods Complex and those at Judgement Square for allowing outreach teams to use their compounds for public demonstrations.

CBH described the campaign as a success and said preparations will begin for the next Rodent Awareness Week, scheduled for 2026.
