The Bureau of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) has noted with concern the proclamation issued by the Government of the United States on 16 December 2025 imposing partial entry restrictions on nationals of Antigua and Barbuda and the Commonwealth of Dominica.

The Bureau recognises the right of countries to implement policies regulating entry to their borders. Nevertheless, the Bureau expresses concern that this decision was taken without prior consultation, especially in circumstances of its potential adverse effects on legitimate travel, people-to-people exchanges, and the social and economic well-being of these small states. CARICOM is also concerned about the lack of clarity regarding the status of existing visas after 1 January 2026.
The Bureau urges an early engagement by the United States with the Governments of Antigua and Barbuda and Dominica to clarify the proclamation and address outstanding concerns, consistent with the strong and longstanding partnership between the United States of America and CARICOM.
CARICOM remains committed to dialogue and cooperation based on mutual respect, shared interests and the rule of law as we seek to secure the prosperity of the region and its citizens.

Yes but there is nothing you all dunce headed leaders can do about it. The people voted you into office and then we became the servants. So this CIP business none of you had consultations with us to find out our take on it , which in fact if you asked the people we would have overwhelmingly voted against it. The Caribbean people are a proud people and we are against selling our sovereignty. Worst yet the peak point of the CIP has gone and we do not have anything tangible to show for the funds we got from it. Well except a bunch of self enriching politicians and administrators of the CIP.
With good fiscal discipline/management, accountability, transparency and innovation we can build our economy without selling of our passports. Hey that means we also maximize on the benefits of our lands. We are giving away all these concessions to these so called investors and in return our people do not get the high quality, high paying jobs. They bring in all sorts of dodos and we bow to them. Our children are returning very qualified. Our people are willing to return him , especially with what is transpiring out these and bring their first world experience and knowledge. Do you want that? Or do you want to keep us begging for Ham and Turkey and some Christmas toys.
Not a ting go so. Somebody in the Circle is drumming up false support and sympathy for their failure; something similar to what they used to do in the days of Vulcan and accused others for the arson that they themselves committed. Where is the official release from Caricom? Until there is one, this is a blatant lie reported by the Merchant on behalf of the Syndicate. They shame us every chance they get.
Is anyone surprised!!. This has been a long time coming. Countries dont want anymore black people, we have not progressed as a society or culture. Our women act like they are entitled with nothing to show. The men just want to feel big, so they cuss and insult and floss with no substance what’s so ever. Who wants that around them.
The bad mindedness has caught up to us. We are worse to our own people than any white person can be these days. Sad
I get it that the CIP is not a delight in the eyes of most citizens regardless of the income it has generated for the country, there is no trade off when selling your soul for material gain. But do we honestly think that that is the be all and end all behind these larger countries standing on our necks? I guarantee you that tomorrow morning the reason for any new policy could be as nonsensical as their roads have potholes because 1. It’s a power imbalance issue and 2. The one thing they can’t say is it’s because you’re black
@Rovi. The statement is on the CARICOM website. Sometimes researching before typing is good too.

It can be certainly said that the standards of the small islands have fallen off, even the incessant killings and drug use have reached out shores.
So though many might see America as some bulldog bully, we must be honest and look in our own mirror and see how far we have fallen off. These days we have leaders who are comparing their crime rates to other islands standard, instead of the high standards they have set for themselves.
No one is better than none, we are all equal in the eyes of God, but unfortunately we are not judged by God in these situations, we are judged by our own fellow man.
You can say, who amongst us can judge, and I’ll say our own conscience will have a say in that.
We have fallen off folks, big time, and unfortunately the US has taking its stance.
It’s one thing to say that you are ” enemy to none and friends to all” but in the same breath you turn a blind eye to corruption in your own backyard.
I think y’all are forgetting how much hurt Allen Sanford has inflicted on so many, and with America having elephant brain who doesn’t forget, they are always out for their pound of flesh.
Antigua has become almost as corrupt as in the days of Allen Sanford with its current immigration system and the CIP.
Those are the facts, and Inspite of the ” long standing relationship” that we have with the US, relationship can fall off, and it’s clear that this one has.
” No man/nation can serve two masters” and Antigua is trying to serve at least 5. That type of diplomacy doesn’t work for the United States in this current political climate.
So there you have it..it’s a tough blow, but it wasn’t done all willy nilly, this was a calculated move by the US.
Now it’s time for this administration to come up with solid decisions, and not just a bunch of apologetic statements like they are begging for their lives.
Grow a spine and do the right thing GB.. you and I know what that is,otherwise this relationship ain’t going anywhere, trust me.
Oh, and one more thing.
The whataboutism has to stop, especially with these politicians who are task with keeping our country safe and prosperous.
The many excuses you here these days from many of them and their ardent supporter, is ” oh what about that country or that other person”. That has stop with most notably our leaders.
It starts from the top..we must be judged by our own standards we set for ourselves as a nation.
Pointing fingers is getting us nowhere, and this Administration is terrible at pointing fingers, instead of doing the job that they were elected to do.
Last time I checked, GB was still the voted in PM of Antigua..The buc stops at him..not Pringle, not the UPP, no this followers, him.
Couldn’t care one way or the other, I have been in an American territory 4 different times in my life and they were all for work related and in those 4 times never spent more than 3 months total because America is a bigger shithole country than the Caribbean combined
