The Antigua and Barbuda Medicinal Cannabis Authority (ABMCA is proud to announce the graduation of its first cohort of trained cannabis professionals.

Twenty-six (26) participants successfully completed a comprehensive four-week course titled “Setting up Your Cannabis Business”, designed to prepare entrepreneurs for the opportunities and responsibilities of operating within Antigua and Barbuda’s regulated medicinal cannabis sector.

The course, held at the ABMCA Head Office on Friar’s Hill Road, covered a broad range of topics including regulatory compliance, cultivation methods, pest management, harvesting, business planning, and financial management.

Sessions were led by local and regional experts two of which were Extension Officer – Mr. Joel Matthew, and Trinidadian consultant Mr. Nassi Felix.

Each component offered both theoretical instruction and practical insights tailored to the Caribbean context.

“This program represents a significant step forward in building local capacity and professionalism within the cannabis industry,” said Mr. Regis Burton CEO at ABMCA.

“We’re not only equipping individuals with knowledge- we are laying the foundation for a responsible, locally-driven sector that meets both international standards and the needs of our citizens.”

With cannabis reform progressing across the Caribbean, this initiative positions Antigua and Barbuda as a leader in responsible regulation and industry development.

The course is expected to become a regular feature of ABMCA’s educational offerings.

The formal graduation ceremony took place on April 17th, during the Medicinal Cannabis Educational Conference held at the John E St. Luce Finance and Conference Center, where participants received their certificates of completion in a public recognition of their achievement
