Antiguan-born chef Kareem Roberts has achieved a major milestone in his culinary career, as The Burleigh Arms — the Cambridge gastropub where he serves as head chef — was recently awarded two AA Rosettes for culinary excellence.
The accolade, one of the United Kingdom’s most respected dining recognitions, celebrates establishments that display exceptional standards of precision, creativity, and consistency in their cooking. Restaurants earning two Rosettes are noted for their commitment to high-quality ingredients and refined technique.
Roberts, who has lived and worked in the United Kingdom for several years, described the achievement as a proud moment for his team and for himself as a son of Antigua and Barbuda.
“I’m incredibly proud of our small but dedicated team,” Roberts said. “This recognition reflects the passion and commitment we’ve poured into The Burleigh Arms since opening. Our goal has always been to offer food that feels both refined and rooted — food that tells a story and connects with people. This award validates that journey.”

The Burleigh Arms has grown into one of Cambridge’s top dining destinations, praised for its inventive approach to modern cuisine. Last year, the gastropub was also listed among the Top 100 Pubs in the UK, cementing its reputation as a standout in Britain’s competitive culinary scene.
Building on this success, Roberts is preparing to release his first cookbook in the coming weeks — a project he says reflects his passion for storytelling through food and his Caribbean roots.
“I believe these are inspirational steps for a son of the soil,” Roberts said. “It’s been a remarkable journey from Antigua to Cambridge, and I hope it inspires others to chase their dreams wherever they may lead.”

Great work ! Great work! Just fantasizing that you have the capital to build top class restaurant infrastructure in Antigua and probably england or where ever this thing taking place.
Congratulations. As someone who fancies haute cuisine I hope to experience your culinary skills someday. I hope it does not have to await a visit to Cambridge although I enjoyed Cambridge when I lived there for a few months.
