Calls Grow for Funeral for Murdered 9-Year-Old Chantel Crump
Residents are urging the government to grant a state funeral for 9-year-old Chantel Crump, who was abducted and killed last month. Citing her young age and the tragic nature of her death, many believe she deserves an official farewell.
But the government has yet to take a position. Chief of Staff in the Office of the Prime Minister said that state funerals are not typically granted to homicide victims. “I am not sure. The answer is I don’t know. We have not discussed that,” he said.
The community continues to mourn Chantel’s loss, calling for a meaningful tribute. It remains unclear whether public pressure will sway the government to make an exception.

Chantel’s case feels like more than just a homicide. As a child going about her own business and trying to get home, as a family who has left to mourn n treated like crazy even being barred off from the court, the nicest thing the government can do is offer Chantel an Official Funeral. Already yall protecting the monster that was against her
Of course the government will not discuss that, they just through a nine year old under the bus like nothing. Yall have this girl peacefully living while Chantel’s family is living in agony. The most the government can do is an official funeral for this little angel
Let’s forget about the state funeral. Will we get the justice Chantel deserves? That’s my question.

In All Honestly She Doesn’t Necessarily Needs A State Funeral !!!! She can have a nice huge funeral with police escorts and so forth but a state funeral is too much for a baby…with no gun firing and folding of flag etc ….I find just partake in giving her an awesome send off ….let’s focus more on why the place is so quiet now concerning her death….thats what should be the highlight
She doesn’t necessarily need a state funeral. What she need is justice. The person who killed her should be killed. State funeral wa. Who cares about state funerals. These politicians who are criminals gets state funeral so there’s no big turn on this. She should be buried peacefully like the beautiful soul that she was. But there should be marches and street protests and boots on the ground to ensure this child’s killer gets maximum or death. We nahhhh care about state funerals.
Chantel Crump will be remembered in different ways but she can’t have a State funeral, people of Antigua remember the late Asot Michael he did everything for his people country and party in power and he didn’t get a States funeral. What Government can do in remembrance of Chantel Crump is naming the street she was taken from after her. “Chantel Crump way”.
What is called for is an Official funeral and not a State funeral. A State funeral could never be given to her. However, I would be in support of an Official funeral given the outrageous circumstances of the child’s death. Also, it would save her family the expense for a funeral that I sure they can least afford. That situation was one of the saddest moments in our recent history.

As sad and tragic as her death is, i do not see her getting a State Funeral. An Official Funeral maybe, but i will still think no.
What can be done is that we the people can give her an ‘unofficial’ State Funeral. The schools can all close for the day, and school children attend. but definitely the whole of her school should attend. The police can show up in force, and we can all attend and show our support.
A STATE FUNERAL WOULD BE NICE. BUT IF NOT, THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD ALLOW HER FUNERAL TO BE HELD AT THE ANTIGUA RECREATIONAL GROUNDS, TO ALLOW FOR THOUSANDS TO ATTEND. I GUARANTEE YOU THAT HALF OF ANTIGUA WILL BE THERE. AS PM, GASTON BROWNE SHOULD BE THERE TOO ALONG WITH THE OPPOSITION AND OTHER POLITICIANS.
