Cabinet Welcomes Slowdown in Inflation Growth
The Cabinet has noted that the inflation rate in Antigua and Barbuda rose by approximately 4.0% over the twelve-month period ending February 2025. This marks the smallest year-over-year increase in the all-items index since December 2023.
The Cabinet welcomed this positive development, attributing it to the effective leadership and sound economic policies of the Gaston Browne Administration. These efforts have helped cushion the nation against exogenous shocks, including ongoing conflicts in Gaza and Ukraine, as well as global trade tensions and tariff disputes involving the United States.

How is it that two things that are supposed to work simultaneously in the same direction are giving opposite results?
Inflation goes according to cost of living and the price of goods.
Since January when Trump took over governance of America and his tax regime, prices have escalated.
Every single thing has increased in price since we do not produce air.
So explain to me how prices are steadily increasing yet inflation is declining.
Is insanity the order of the day???
@Straight.. you are wrong. Recent data from the US so far shows inflation is under control. There are some headwinds due to the tariffs but we will need to look at other direct options (eg South America). There has also been a suggestion that goods meant for the region, come via Jamaica instead of Miami.
“The consumer price index increased 0.1% for the month, putting the annual inflation rate at 2.4%.
Excluding food and energy, core CPI came in respectively at 0.1% and 2.8%, compared with forecasts for 0.3% and 2.9%. see https://www.cnbc.com/2025/06/11/cpi-inflation-may-2025.html
Who are these people tryna fool??? Everything is super expensive smfh
It’s still very much to high
Until we reduce our dependence on imported food, we’ll always be at the mercy of international prices. Time to invest in local agriculture.
The numbers might look better on paper, but for working people, it’s still a struggle. Prices are rising faster than wages. Can’t change my mind until I feel the change
they are not you can’t even buy an ordinary bread butter and cheese for under ten dollars. you have to be buying a half bread now
Is the slowdown just a statistical anomaly, or are we actually seeing real relief? Because when I go to the market, prices certainly don’t feel like they’re slowing down.
More obfuscation, bluster and gobbledegook from this useless government. These clowns live in their gilded cages with bubbles surrounding them.
Many Antiguans know that buying goods, services and the cost of living is way way to high. This out of touch government can spout their verbal diarrhea as much as they like, but we have eyes, many have empty pockets; empty food cupboards; and empty bank accounts.
And don’t get me started on disposal incomes and trying to save for a rainy day.
They are so out of touch with the hardworking Antiguan. Fact!
ABLP, JOKERS THE LOT AH DEM …
Many can’t wait to vote dem out.
This is pure bullshit, when I go to the Supermarkets that is not my experience, please stop making fools of us, my wallet is the true measure of what is going on
