The Cabinet of Antigua and Barbuda said it held further discussions today on the naming of the Sports Complex being presently constructed at Knuckle Block to ‘The Baldwin Spencer Sports Complex.’
The Cabinet says further that, for the second time now, it has given consideration to have the Sports Complex, currently under construction next to the King George Vth Grounds, named after the former Prime Minister and former representative of the St. John’s Rural West constituency.
The Knuckle Block project is funded by a grant from China.
“After 29 years of service in the Parliament, including 10 years as Prime Minister, a monument to Mr. Spencer is warranted,” said Cabinet notes.
The Cabinet is had also decided to rename The King George Vth Grounds in honour of an outstanding athlete from the Grays/Green community.

Given the objection to the naming Mount Saint John after Lester Bird. This is a scam. Its not about recognizing or honouring Baldwin Spencer. If you think I am wrong go back and look at the ABLP election rally video that eviscerated Baldwin Spencer on his lack of action on Knuckle Block Sports Sports Complex.
The name KNUCKLE BLOCK doesn’t exactly sound good. I hope the UPP will rally around Mr. Spencer in this regard. They undermined him like hell and had the nerve to say “Leadership Matters”
I hope that Mr. Spencer himself was contacted regarding the rename and will accept the accolade. All the best to you Mr. Spencer. Relax yourself, kak up you foot, enjoy a nice bowl of pepper-pot, get way inna some funjee and fish wartah, play steelpan, go to the beach, roast corn, and do all that your heart desires.
