Cabinet Considers Moving Senior Panorama to Sir Viv

The Cabinet is considering a proposal to host the Senior Panorama Competition at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, using the successful format of this year’s Junior Panorama as a model for revitalizing the national steelband showcase.

Director General of Communications Maurice Merchant said Cabinet members praised the outstanding execution of the 44th Independence Anniversary celebrations, particularly the Junior Panorama, which featured vibrant performances and strong youth participation.

Merchant said the Junior Panorama’s organization and crowd turnout impressed Cabinet members, prompting discussions about adopting a similar two-stage format for the Senior Panorama during Carnival. The move, he said, could elevate production standards, improve audience experience, and strengthen the cultural profile of the event.

He added that further consultations with stakeholders in the cultural sector will take place before a final decision is made. Cabinet also extended congratulations to the Ministry of Festivals and its team, led by Minister Daryll Matthew, for the success of the Independence celebrations.
