The Cabinet continued its discussion on drawing well-off Antiguan and Barbudan citizens into the profitable hospitality sector.

Crown land which allows for ocean view is being set aside for sale to citizens of Antigua and Barbuda, for the construction of luxury rental-homes that form part of the hospitality product.

Several Antiguans and Barbudans have stepped-forward and are being examined for capacity. Meanwhile, sample luxury homes are to be constructed on each of the sites in order to provide a living example of the quality of residences to be constructed.

The article says: “The Cabinet continued its discussion on drawing WELL-OFF Antiguan and Barbudan citizens into the profitable hospitality sector. Crown land which allows for ocean view is being set aside for sale to citizens of Antigua and Barbuda, for the construction of LUXURY RENTAL-HOMES that form part of the hospitality product”.

Stone is talking about “high-paying jobs and not just entry-level positions”. Did you not read the article? It’s an airbnb idea.

Antigua Surf says “Will there be funding available for locals to start their own LUXURY businesses? No! Read the article! – “on drawing WELL-OFF Antiguan and Barbudan citizens into the profitable hospitality sector”. Well-off citizens will not need or be offered funding!

Teacher for Life: This is an airbnb idea. The management will be the people that OWN the homes. It could be you if you have the money, know how to run a hospitality business and the government approves you!

Luka Johnson: A quota for local hiring? What?! No! It’s an airbnb idea! You own it so you decide on who you hire, if anyone!

Antigua Surf: “Hoping for clear guidelines on how this will be implemented fairly”. Fairly? It’s simple, you need to be wealthy enough to buy the land, build a luxury home on it, know how to operate an airbnb business and be approved by the government. It has nothing to do with “fair” but everything to do with business acumen and a healthy bank account.
