The Premier of the British Virgin Islands, Natalio Wheatley, commended Antigua and Barbuda’s Prime Minister Gaston Browne for his instrumental role in advancing regional air connectivity during a LIAT 2020 event in the BVI.
Speaking at the event, Premier Wheatley highlighted Browne’s steadfast efforts to address a critical issue for the Caribbean region. “I sat around the table at many CARICOM meetings, and we spoke a lot about regional connectivity. Prime Minister Gaston Browne said he would get it done, and he’s got it done,” said Wheatley, drawing applause from the audience.
The event celebrated the role of LIAT 2020 in improving transportation links among Caribbean nations. Wheatley used the opportunity to commend Browne’s leadership and dedication to ensuring the survival and revitalization of the regional airline, which has been pivotal in connecting islands and fostering economic and social cohesion.
Premier Wheatley also acknowledged the collaborative efforts of regional leaders in supporting LIAT 2020 and emphasized the importance of sustaining such initiatives for the benefit of the Caribbean people.
Prime Minister Browne, who has been a key advocate for LIAT 2020’s restructuring, expressed his gratitude for the recognition and reiterated his commitment to regional development. Under his leadership, Antigua and Barbuda has played a significant role in ensuring the airline’s operations continue, benefiting not just Antigua but the wider Caribbean community.

I’m not expecting everyone to like Gaston or his methodology, but his persistence regarding the Liat issue has been much appreciated by me and I’m sure many more. Now I just would to make sure that the new Liat benefits Antiguans and the wider Caribbean people as much as possible.
Many of these people who are opposing Gaston and his methods would not have the determination and vision to execute and complete the venture of getting or keeping Liat in the air, let’s be honest.
i wish all the best for Gaston and liat 20. determination usually goes a long way, im waiting to see liat 20 as the best airline amongst the caribbean.
Let’s see if liat 20 really delivers. The airline industry is tough, and just having a vision isn’t always enough. Hope it works out, but I’ll believe it when I see it.
Prime Minister Gaston Browne deserves a lot of credit for sticking to this vision for Liat 20. It’s not easy to keep pushing and idea when others may not see its value. His persistence has clearly paid off.
@Aaliyah What are you waiting to see? Stop wishing doom & gloom!
