Antigua and Barbuda’s iconic soca group, Burning Flames, has been honoured with a major tribute as Potters Main Road is officially renamed the Burning Flames Highway.

Prime Minister Gaston Browne made the announcement during Carnival celebrations, marking the band’s 40 years of contribution to local music and culture.

At the Party Monarch competition, Creative Industries Minister Daryll Matthew presented a formal citation to founding members Toriano ‘Onyan’ Edwards, Clarence ‘Oungku’ Edwards, David ‘Crocus’ Edwards, and Rhone ‘Foxx’ Watkins.

Toriano Edwards described the moment as a proud one, calling the highway renaming a lasting symbol of community support and cultural legacy.

  1. Congratulations to Burning Flames and the Edwards family. Well deserved recognition and the perquisites that comes with it. This was long overdue. Burning Flanes has market Antigua and Barbuda well wherever they travel. They’re the true sons of the soil.

  2. Congratulations are in order for the iconic four, Burning Flames. However, it would be better appreciated, if the the road was repaired from the state it is in now. Let the honour shine bright as we drive, walk and even socialize on this road. One should be able to go there just to see it and for a photo opportunity, but in it’s current state, one cannot. Congratulations again, to the Burning Flames
