Building contractor in police custody over Barbuda shooting

A building contractor is currently in police custody assisting the police with their investigations, following a shooting incident in Barbuda, Sunday afternoon.

It is alleged that James St John of Upper Gambles and one of his employees, James Elliott of #3 Cassada Gardens, got into an argument over outstanding monies owed to Elliott, whilst working on Barbuda.

It is further alleged that St. John, who was armed with a 9mm pistol, discharge the said firearm and shot Elliott in his mouth. He was transported to Mount St. John Medical Center, where he is reported to be in stable condition.

Police have since retrieved the firearm, among other evidential items, as investigations continue into the matter.
