Cabinet Team Prepares for Budget 2026 Presentation

The Cabinet of Antigua and Barbuda has begun preparations for the upcoming 2026 National Budget, which Prime Minister Gaston Browne is scheduled to present to Parliament on December 4, 2025.

According to Director General of Communications Maurice Merchant, Cabinet members held a strategic planning meeting this week with key financial officials, including representatives from the Ministry of Finance and the Treasury Department, to review fiscal priorities and finalize the structure of the presentation.

Merchant said the preparatory meeting was convened to “set out the government’s financial and economic direction for the new year,” ensuring alignment with ongoing national development initiatives and fiscal reforms.

The 2026 Budget is expected to focus on economic resilience, infrastructure investment, job creation, and social protection, while advancing policies that promote digital transformation, education, and climate adaptation.

Merchant also confirmed that the Throne Speech, which traditionally precedes the budget and outlines the government’s legislative agenda, will be delivered on November 25.

Officials say both events mark the start of the government’s annual parliamentary cycle and will highlight achievements from 2025 alongside new plans to strengthen public services, modernize state operations, and expand housing and energy programmes.
