Buckleys Health Fair Draws Over 400 Persons;

Underscores Urgent Call for Permanent All Saints Clinic

More than 400 residents turned out at the Buckleys Primary School on Sunday, August 24, for the Community Health Fair hosted by the All Saints West Branch of the United Progressive Party (UPP).  The event offered free screenings, wellness education, and community services while underscoring the need for a permanent healthcare facility.

Caretaker Harold Lovell commended the participants for their determination and unity, and he described the day’s success as both “a blessing and a call to action.”

“This community clinic is proof that when government fails, the people rise to meet their own needs,” he said.  “But while this event will provide vital services today, it is no substitute for a permanent, fully functioning facility. Mothers still need prenatal care close to home. Seniors still need easy access to regular checkups. Families still deserve healthcare within their own community.”

He emphasized that temporary initiatives cannot replace lasting infrastructure.  Accordingly, “we will not stop until a permanent clinic stands where our community needs it most,” he declared.

The event featured a wide range of services, including general health screenings, blood pressure and diabetes checks, nutrition counseling, and preventive-care education. Local organizations also provided resources on wellness, fitness and healthy living.

Lovell also expressed his deep appreciation for the doctors, nurses, technicians and activists for the contribution of their time and expertise, and he praised Barbara Coates and the Branch members for their hard work in ensuring the fair’s success.

Residents enthusiastically welcomed the one-stop opportunity; but they, too, stressed that such events cannot substitute for consistent, accessible care in their own community.

  1. An amazing and well needed health initiative, and putting all political biases aside, this should be done right across the whole of Antigua & Barbuda 🇦🇬

    Remember, health is wealth … 🙏🏾

  2. Well done sir. No one in their right mind can deny that this was a great initiative… the haters will say it is political but the reality is the people benefit from it. Keep the pressure on Mr. Lovell

  3. Heard the wicked, badminded one tried to jettison the event. God will not be kind to him, just watch and see

    Do not bother your head with anything Faithful National #1 says, he is Gaston’s #1 AssKisser so his brain is full of feaces. He needs to put the prefix UN in front of Faithful

  9. This is a great initiative, but it really highlights a bigger problem. Temporary health fairs are helpful, but our community deserves a permanent clinic.

  10. The turnout proves that residents care about their health and the future of the community. Hopefully, this will push authorities to finally reopen the All Saints Clinic.

  11. The turnout at the Buckleys Health Fair shows just how critical healthcare access is for our communities. A permanent All Saints clinic isn’t just a want, it’s a necessity.

  12. Harold Lovell continues to play politics. All of a sudden you wanna engage in clinics in our community. We dont even know you bossman.
