Prime Minister Gaston Browne seems hell-bent on destroying the reputation of members and supporters of the United Progressive Party (UPP), says Alister Thomas.
Thomas, the Party’s Candidate for St. John’s City West, recalls Browne saying that he would use the State’s resources to get at, and bankrupt, those who oppose him.
He says that Browne has gone through with this evil ploy, and Thomas names the many UPP candidates and supporters who have been dragged through the courts on various charges.
While there are other serious crimes to be investigated, law enforcers are wasting the country’s already scarce resources on frivolous prosecutions and have quickly prepared case files to that end, Thomas says.
Thomas says similar threats were also made against him.
The UPP Candidate says all these arrests are an abuse of the justice system and erode the people’s confidence in the judicial process.
Meanwhile, Thomas says the Browne Administration has failed to deliver on quite a number of election promises.
Accordingly, he says, the Antigua Labour Party Government continues to piggyback on several initiatives implemented by the UPP Administration since it is devoid of ideas. (REAL. NEWS)

Maybe its his old age affecting his hairing but what Browne said was regarding those who brought frivalous lawsuits against the state. He stated the government would go after costs. It is the court who willl judge whether the request is waranted. One would think the public would wish tax payer moneys not be wasted.
In terms of the UPP 3 before the court, the matter is being handled by the Director of Prosecution. Mr. Armtrong was made DPP during the time UPP was in office. He has convinced the court that the UPP 3 have a matter to answer. The constitution provides him protections to enure his indepence (eg He can’t be removed unless a tribunal of juges decides he needs to go). The US via its embasy once awarded him as best prosecutor in the region. He tends to get convictions, something Justin Simon, former AG, once lauded him for
Everyone the labour government touches they corrupt. That is the situation in Antigua today. Let the try to prosecute Asot and we will see.
Not even the UK government has so far prosecuted AM, its because they are corrupt? Remember under the UPP when HL, via Observer stated there was enough evidence for the DPP to take up the IHI case. DPP had to remind him basicallly that our justice system does not work based on Lovell’s opinion
You totally missed my point. Let the PM have AM prosecuted and we will see what secrets AM has in his black bag regarding who was paid off and bought. Did he run with boxes of evidence when his party lost the election in 2004? AM and the Labour Party most likely know why the IHI case was never brought to trial and it wasn’t for lack of evidence. Didn’t Gaston say quite recently that AM fraudulently obtained $200,000 us per month from the government re IHI?
How would the UK government prosecuted a minister of a foreign government with diplomatic immunity?
Gaston was bragging on his radio show on Saturday about the beautiful government lands he got for a steal in English Harbour. And he is going after UPP politicians for buses that the government didn’t even pay for.
Dude, the PM cannot “have AM prosecuted”. The PM has not authority over the Court and who is taken before it. Please go back and read something about how our democracy (and more specifically the judiciary) works.

Moreover, AM not not have any diplomatic immunity. If the British government wants to charge him, they are free to do so. The can charge him and request his extradition. So please refrain from speaking about things you know not about.
The law is for the lawless. Drag all the law breakers before the courts. Clean up the mess.
Alister Thomas appears to be losing his marbles slowly but surely. This is the same man who said that the voice of his “ancestors” woke him up from his sleep and pleaded with him to defeat the PM next election. Can somebody check him in to the asylum please?
Is he still living in the house that doesn’t belong to him???
Go back to bending wires and building carnival costumes – that seems to be your forte.
And did you actually graduate from secondary school or not?? Please set the record straight.
I don’t know about the other two, but Daniel need to go jail for taking a donation of a bus to the people of Antigua and transform it in to a party bus with a stripper pole and having whores in the bus in in the middle of town. UPP SUPPORTERS REALLY THINK THIS IS RIGHT? Shame on them!
Daniel has submitted an email from John Ashe to the court that the bus was his and John Ashe acquired the bus for him. Maybe Daniel should have been charged with running an immoral operation. By the way, do you know of any corrupt activities that the labour government members has been involved in? Does labour supporters really think?
Weird that Daniel has such an email but then the same Ashe ships the buses in the name of the Government of Antigua and Barbuda. Do you find nothing wrong with that? Ashe can tell Daniel anything he wants, if the DOCUMENTATION he sent indicates the buses are owned by the government, the Daniel was played. What if Ashe, after the conversation with Daniel, changed his mind about who will own the buses and so shipped them in the name of the government to indicate such?
@Wash an’ Basin
The PM said someone forged his signature and robbed the government of over $3million dollars. Why wasn’t the person brought before the courts? The PM said that Asot was involved in a fraudulent transaction that robbed the country of over $200,000US per month. Why did the Labour government file injunction after injunction to keep the IHI case out of court? I am sure I heard Gaston say that the government was ripped off for the solar panels and didn’t even get batteries and the government was going to sue. Heard Gaston on a a radio station recently in a Quivering voice saying the government overpaid by 20% for the panels because they acquired them early. People only quiver when they are lying. The government not suing again but settled out of court. Most of us believe that the 20% was a bribe paid to our unscrupulous politicians. Do the politicians care how they spend the country’s resources once they get their share?
Weston said the government was overcharged for the ADOMS building. A cost overrun of over 100%. Why haven’t the culprits been charged? Why has no one been charged for the millions overpaid for the useless E-tablets for the school children? The government can’t charge anybody when it is believed that most of the fraudsters are right in the government.
The government does have control over who is charged when the case affects the government.
The government can try to fool the people about separation of powers, but most people know that the government has their people in key judicial positions and who they don’t put they appear to have allowed to join the corruption club.
So much corrupt activities are happening under this government that has and are costing the people millions of dollars and the one case before the courts involves opposition politicians for old buses the government got for free.
You should address the issues raised.
Thomas is a sore loser lol
