The Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority and Hawksbill Hotel honored British couple Hugh and Jane Campbell for their remarkable 100 visits to Antigua and Barbuda, choosing Hawksbill as their preferred retreat.
Tourism Minister Charles Max Fernandez, ABTA CEO Colin C. James, Hawksbill Resident Manager Mario Thomas, and Clarence ‘Sir Oungku’ Edwards joined the celebration on Friday, recognizing the couple’s deep connection to the island.
Minister Fernandez expressed gratitude for their unwavering loyalty, emphasizing that while Hawksbill’s beauty attracts visitors, its dedicated staff ensures they return. “You are the heartbeat of our hospitality, among the finest in the Caribbean,” he said.
ABTA CEO James playfully noted, “If there were frequent flyer miles for stays, you’d be honorary citizens!”
Mario Thomas called the milestone “truly remarkable,” acknowledging the Campbells’ long-standing bond with the hotel.
Hugh Campbell reflected on their cherished visits since the late 1980s. The event was made special by ‘Sir Oungku’ Edwards of the Burning Flames band, whose music the couple has enjoyed during Carnival.
As a token of appreciation, the Campbells received a gift basket, a painting of Hawksbill Beach, a commemorative plaque, and a photography book celebrating Antigua and Barbuda.

Antigua and Barbuda must feel like a second home to them!
If i leave this country… I surely will not be coming back!!!!
Honoring them is nice, but let’s also focus on improving the experience for all tourists.
Hurry up
This is a significant achievement and we should be appreciative that the Campbells choose Antigua as their choice of vacation. I was hoping the they would have been given a bit more like 2 weeks free stay – one sponsored by the government and the other by Hawksbill.
Image them telling friends and relatives on all those 100 visits that they are heading to Antigua. So I do believe they would have added to our tourism product.
I have visited the virgin islands more than a hundred times, the difference with this British visitor, they are been shown opportunity for beach front lands by the government.
