Update From Cabinet: British Airways has announced the reduction of flights to two per week from Heathrow/Gatwick directly to Antigua, since the imposition of the lockdown in Britain.
The BA flights will terminate here and not proceed to another Caribbean destination, as was the case before, making Antigua a highly-favored destination.
The Minister of Tourism indicated to Cabinet that Antigua and Barbuda’s tourism is continuing to recover and the number of arrivals will eventually return to 2019 levels in the near future.

Makes business sense for BA and we are fortunate they have not suspended service as holiday travel from uk is currently illegal.
Minister of Tourism – “reach 2019 arrivals levels in near future” ??? Please stop raising people’s hopes for substantially increased economic activity in the next few months that will positively impact the tourism worker when we now know of 4 current fast spreading C-19 mutations from UK, South Africa, USA & Brazil; increased restrictions & testing for international travel; various national lockdowns; Globally slower than politically announced vaccination rates; Covacs Caribbean might begin in March; vaccine manufacturers are not producing amounts touted to dates promised; UN//WHO advising masks & distancing needed throughout this year; Brexit chaos; possible USA trade negotiations.
Yes, there is hope and small changes will happen during this year that will build to positively impact tourism, hopefully giving us a moderate season 21/22.
Please Minister, realism when you speak, so allowing us all to live our lives knowing we have to eek out our dollars awhile yet.
There is no wonder. The Deluxe Cinema in St.John’s ran into financial troubles. What is the relationship between the Minister of Tourism and the owner of the Deluxe Cinema?
You forget that the Cinema was successful for decades. Why are you people so negative, we all need to work together to survive this.
