Sir Robin Yearwood Resigns After 50 Years in Parliament
Sir Robin Yearwood has resigned as parliamentary representative for St. Philip’s North after 50 consecutive years in the House of Representatives.
The announcement came Wednesday during a special sitting of Parliament marking his five decades of uninterrupted service, when House Speaker Osbert Frederick read a letter dated Feb. 18, 2026, from the veteran lawmaker.
In the letter, Sir Robin wrote that he had served in the House since Feb. 18, 1976, and had been returned to Parliament by the people of St. Philip’s North on 11 separate occasions. He described his tenure as “long and successful,” noting that he retained his seat even when the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party lost the majority and ceased being the government in 2004 and 2009.
Sir Robin recounted his service in several senior Cabinet roles, including minister of finance, deputy prime minister, minister of agriculture, minister of aviation and minister of public utilities, with responsibility for multiple government agencies and statutory bodies.
He credited his party’s vision with shaping what he described as a proud, sovereign and resilient nation, and said he was pleased to believe that his contribution helped to build a “sovereign, wealthier, prideful, accomplished” Antigua and Barbuda that leads the Caribbean in human development.
The longtime MP also expressed gratitude to his family, friends, church members and constituents for their support over the years, saying their backing allowed him to serve with stability and confidence.
“I believe that the time has come for me to pass the baton to a younger and more vigorous representative,” he wrote, adding that no time could be better than upon achieving the 50-year milestone.
Sir Robin advised that his resignation takes effect immediately and closed by wishing continued blessings upon Parliament and Antigua and Barbuda.

His departure ends one of the longest uninterrupted parliamentary tenures in the nation’s history and triggers the process for selecting a new representative for St. Philip’s North.

The third by-election is on! It was foretold, from the last general elections, that there would be three prior to the next general elections.

It’s like going to funeral and listening to all the wonderful things the person would have done, despite persons in the audience knowing differently.
Have any of these hypocrites ever listen to the caribarena tapes of Robin, Lester and Asot discussing their scheme to ripoff the country?

Well! Well! A millstone has been lifted from around the people of willikies, seatons and glanvilles and newfield neck! For years this man throttled around using the coastal lands and even the national park lands at devils bridge for his personal upward mobility along with his white colleagues, I could never forget a young man from willikies who is a chef that had aspirations to set up a bar restaurant facility at devils bridge, but was denied by robin until now it unveiled that he was all along associated with those lands either personally or through shell companies. as we can see today his hotel that he associates with is on the said lands.
A main road should be constructed for large truck with containers going through the village. Back in the old days the road going towards robin property was traversed by large equipment moving houses in the 60’s and 70’s , because the cotton house was the main industry during the agrarian era. But as you can see Robin pawn those lands for his white friends Don Waltz and the road exist no more. My other suggestions is making a highway pass the willikies school and straight through big pasture now called emerald cove, the government whether Gaston brown or future government should appropriate lands from this defunct company that promised five star hotel project that never materialized with all the concessions extended to them for 40 years now. This land should be used for a main highway for large trucks going through the village blazing horns at odd hours, our elderly people is been tormented at night and day. With that said the road will be in the vicinity of the coastal areas where the government could capitalize on building a fishery complex to help develop entrepreneurial aspirations of the people of willikies seatons and glanvilles, newfield. And newfield could become a hub of activity if we open and construct the old dirt road back of the boys training school now called Dennis bowers center. That will stimulate an economic hub in the st Phillips north community that would create a renaissance.
Let see if Gaston brown the prime minister is able to see this vision, or is it limited to just the UPP and Alex brown Baltimore . Because both Alex and Randy are Baltimore, but Alex is not looking for power to devolve to maintain the status quo, he knows the grievances and issues of community, but his cousin randy would allow things to remain as robin yearwood leave the community, no changes and redress.
Love to the Baltimore’s that is rising right now in this late generation.
