BREAKING NEWS: Businessman Attacked, Wife and Daughter Held Hostage in Lengthy Standoff
A local businessman is currently recovering in the hospital, with his condition reported as stable, after being assaulted by one of his employees.
The harrowing incident unfolded late Sunday night and extended well into the early hours of Monday morning.
During this ordeal, the businessman’s wife and daughter were held at knifepoint while law enforcement officers engaged in painstaking negotiations with the assailant.
According to information received by ANR, the businessman was confronted at his residence in Law Pasture by an employee hailing from Bendals.
A conversation between the two individuals apparently escalated into a physical altercation, resulting in the employer being stabbed.
He was promptly transported to the hospital, but the crisis was far from resolved.
The assailant then took the businessman’s wife and daughter hostage, prompting an extensive effort by the police to secure their release.
After a protracted negotiation, the attacker relented, first releasing the daughter and then her mother, before ultimately surrendering to law enforcement authorities.
Thankfully, neither of the two women sustained any injuries during this frightening episode.
The assailant is currently under interrogation and may also undergo a psychiatric evaluation in the coming days.

Listen! This is an action movie. What chubble is dis?
Is mental issues the new defence theory when malcontents act out their decisions?
Do not get me wrong, mental illness is real and serious, but most times we either miss early warning signs, ignore pleas for help or downright dismiss it until something serious like this occurs. Then we trot out the ‘mental issues’ theory.
How many of us see our children ‘acting out’, being belligerent, and do not get them guidance and counselling? The old adage ‘It takes a village to raise a child’ is still certainly very applicable for those same children become the adults of today and tomorrow and their ‘acting out’ and ‘belligerance’ is taken to higher levels.
A stitch in time saves nine. That is another old proverb I grew up hearing. In other words, before the behaviour takes root, solve the problem that is the cause of the acting out and belligerence. Take the time to listen, give the other person the recognition that they are being listened to AND heard. Try and find the ways to conflict resolution through communication.
We do not have to copy the actions and attitudes of our neighbours to the north. Look within our own borders and within ourselves to find solutions to our problems.
I cannot begin to envisage the horror and fright that poor, yes poor, business man and his family must be feeling even up to this time.
Much praise must be given to our law enforcement officers who answered this call and was able to effect a positive end. It could so easily have gone in another direction. It shows that our officers are capable of de-escalating tenuous situations. Bravo!!

JAIL HE FU GO……BULLSHIT…..
I totally disagree with Joan Salmon. Why everyone talking about mental disorder. The man, an employee of the man who got stab, was in a confrontation with his employer from Sunday night up to Monday morning. The question now is why the employer never call the police and allow it to escalate ?. My opinion is that he owe the man and refuse to pay him that’s why he never call call police and mabe the wife start to run her mouth so he stab the man and held the wife and daughter hostage. I don’t believe he is crazy. I believe he get frustrated and flip. It is an accustomary thing in Antigua where workers have to take the bull by the horn to get what is rightfully belongs to them. The employer never call the police before he got stab after a lengthy confrontation because he know he wrong. The news article reported in the print media is full of toilet material. Even the Journalists who reporting the news item is full of DooDoo toilet material. Wheel and come again Antigua news room
