All I can say is that this is a brave and bold move on the part of Mr. Lovell. To return by entering a constituency that is mostly red than blue, with red giving Anthony Smith in the last election is being rather presumptuous. Let’s see how this turns out for the UPP. Jamale Pringle and Richard Lewis are doomed now. Has Barbara Coates simply acquiesced or willingly retreated in this situation? What was the offer made? Many questions to be answered.

Personally, I believe this is just something put out by someone in the ABLP. I will believe it only if I hear it from Lovell himself. With all the bashing of Lovell the ABLP is mortally afraid of him, why you people think for all these they keep transferring people into his constituency to declare him the looser, every Labour supporter knows it to be true, the man that was declared the winner last 2 times have you ever watched his face on TV, always looks like a guilty man, someone who knows he did not get there by fair means. I have always liked Lovell, but this is a backward step. The UPP needs to move forward with new candidates and a new vision.
With all these comments in support, I trust that you all are in his new constituency and/or willing to lend a hand financially and otherwise to fuel his candidacy. I’m never moved by the talks, only the action. Let’s see how this one plays out. Now, willl he run as the leader of the party, by contesting at the next convention? That’s another question.
No sensible patriotic antiguan can doubt Mr lovell ‘s sacrificial love for his country. He is a professor at the best university in Canada.he is a world class brain.he can stop Antigua from becoming a fully failed state
This political calculus is weak and self defeating for UPP.
First while Harold Lovell has name recognition; his name recognition is not all positive and comes with damaging political baggage.
Gaston will put each and every ABLP resource available into two candidates to ensure Lovell do not win.
ALBP will nominate a token candidate to run interference for Anthony Smith who will be encouraged by the ABLP to run as an independent, and given the necessary resources to succeed.
In that scenario, Lovell has no chance of winning.
The UPP needs to take bold steps to get back on its feet as a viable alternative to the ABLP. This is not it.

When it comes to politics, never forget Obama was elected in the country that elected Trump twice.
Once in a while a political figure comes along that awakens the electorate.
Obama in a good way did and so did Trump in a bad way.
Unfortunately I don’t expect much to happen in that regard during my lifetime in Antigua and the wider Caribbean for that matter.
We have no institutions to awaken the public. All Caribbean institutions are failing its people.
Civic institutions are in bed with the corrupt political class.
Universities lack dynamic leadership with enlightened political thought that can appeal to the masses.
Many are talking Ai Ai with no clue about Ai.
Selfish thinking is what’s hampering the UPP but there is no newspaper or media organization to report on the real UPP problems.
These type of unexpected maneuvers will continue into the distant fixture.
If the UPP party die as many are wishing; we will be left with a one party state.
I dont know how this going play out but am standing on the side road and look. Lovell is a really brave and patriot sole. I wish him the best
