Damani Tabor has officially resigned from the United Progressive Party (UPP) with immediate effect.

Tabor communicated his decision to the party’s General Secretary through a formal letter, citing various factors that influenced his decision to part ways with the UPP.

In the resignation letter, Tabor explained that his choice was made after careful reflection and was not swayed by what he referred to as the “sunk cost fallacy.”

He highlighted the importance of maintaining a healthy democracy and expressed hope for the continued presence of a viable Opposition in the political landscape of Antigua and Barbuda.

Throughout his tenure with the UPP, Tabor played a key role in several capacities, including as a member of the 2023 Campaign Management Committee and the St. Mary’s South By-Election Strategy Team.

He described these experiences as instrumental in refining his skills and providing valuable insights into political strategy.

As part of his departure, Tabor took steps to ensure the smooth transition of responsibilities related to intellectual property management.

He facilitated the transfer of the Real News website to a new server and provided the necessary credentials to allow the UPP to continue administering the platform.

Tabor urged the party to complete the domain transfer for the realnewsantigua.com website before its expiration in March 2025.

The resignation of Tabor is likely to raise questions about the internal dynamics of the UPP, particularly with regard to the party’s future cohesion and political viability.

Tabor’s letter does not elaborate on the specific reasons for his departure, but his exit marks a notable shift in the party’s composition.

  1. @Brixonionian -Abey, tek that in ya…I gather he too was one of the weak ones? His father did not do a proper job in raising him to be independent? Clearly this man has put bitterness aside and now sees the beam in the UPP eyes. Wecome about comrade, looking forward to work with you to move A&B forward.

  2. Well, well, well: when will they ever learn? Falsehood cannot be sustained and the house that lies built cannot be maintained. Following the Trump strategy of lying about everything will have an implosion effect and once the river banks are breached the flow of the water is uncontainable. I’m not celebrating here, I’m just observing what untruth can do to a politically unstable house of cards. I’m just saying.

  3. Recall, some 15 years ago, watching a UPP event where young Tabor was presented as the future of the party. He gave a very moving speech. For some reason, perhaps due to his having to defend the wroing party, he started to rant (eg defending the sandals tax waiver, a river boat to function on sea water..). Glad to see him now finding some proper direction and truly look forward (up to him) to providing him with some proper guidance.

  4. @Tenman: Are you male or female? Asking because I can’t believe a man would actually write on FB to say to another man “Abey.”
Too much estrogen floating around in the blood of plenty ah de so called man an dem inna Antigua. Here’s some unsolicited advice, lay off the high gluten foods, increase fiber and vegetable intake, exercise, minimize usage of plastic bottles.

Remember, FB is a global platform!

  5. I am no politician but Mr Tabor is a voice I have heard for years fighting for the UPP. I am from the corporate world and we have always been told that it’s better to replace one person than the team. UPP needs outside independent counsel bc in my opinion it’s better to replace 3 individuals than to destroy the UPP party. Now with that been said I don’t know anything about Antigua politics

  6. @Tinman, you have a lot to say about UPP. Answer the questions. Are you on the useless FSRC board? Why do you sit, take taxpayers money and do nothing knowing GBC was in trouble? Did the DAWG, whose behind you kiss told you all to shut up? Speak up Tinman.
Never mind UPP. It’s clowns like you, political prostitutes, who keep our country in this failed state

  7. Wonder if they will accuse him of being “weak” and having “no loyalty” too. Well as Pringle told the RAG-TAG-Clown, his own upp people refuse to return his calls. They won’t talk to him. They are trying to UNDERMINE his “leadership”. It is plain for all to see that the biggest threat to the IMF Party is from within!!!!

It’s no longer UPP, but GPP – Gisele Pringle Party!

  8. Come Dimani! Come and replace Hurst. We need a young gun like you. You can do it 😂! Gaston playing Chess while UPP playing snake and the ladder.

  9. @James Luke, Good suggestion; however, Gisele Isaac will never agreed with outside independent counsel. She is a very head strong woman and what she says goes. It’s like Jezebel controlling Rahab.

  10. I hope that there is no pappyshow rejoicing in the ABLP camp over this latest announcement! This series of resignations should be greeted by a mere “hmmmm” by serious ABLP hierarchy, members and supporters, many of whom have become ego-struck, naive, complacent and just ripe for exploitation. It seems clear from what has happened that many members and supporters of the UPP are just fed-up with the leadership of the party by Gisele Isaac and her boy-toy Jamale Pringle, both of whom are lacking in serious academic qualifications and leadership acumen. But do not be fooled, as the populace often is. What is happening in the UPP, deserves no more than a “hmmmm”. Don’t allow them into the inner sanctum of the ABLP Organization. Let them go ahead and form a new Opposition Party, which clearly seems to be their immediate goal. Carefully watch the newly converted and those recent defectors whose assignment might be to play on the unsuspecting vulnerable minds of many ABLP members and supporters. As the late Hon. D.C.Christian frequently reminded the ABLP faithful, ” You’ve got to watch the ball on to the bat”!!

  11. Mercyyyyyy MISS KNIGHT mussar fart way he day!!! De nasty, 🤢🤮 mampee-looking, duty mouth VAGABUN run gone and put a CONVICTED PEDOPHILE & a PENGUIN TELLY TUBBY to be the spokespersons for upp.

Maybe dis will mek MISS KNIGHT lose de belly flap 😆😂😆😆😂

  12. Good day my fellow Antiguans. I’ve just done a perusal of the comments and reactions from the ABLP acolytes, in regard to the so-called demise of the UPP, and guess what?

The rumblings of the UPP is of MORE concern than the Antiguan economy.

The replies outweigh any other topic. Wow!

The machinations of the UPP is of MORE concern then the hungry and the homeless.

The so-called regression of the UPP is of MORE concern than the lack of good and affordable housing stock.

And need I say more in regard to our dire road and water infrastructures???

The goings-on within the UPP is of MORE concern (with the high amount of responses – check for yourself) to the ABLP than the troubles in the country.

  13. Respond to dat @ tenman; Dave Ray; PETE; SHARL; Less We Forget; CHIME; Curious; Bluddy Bloke; Rev Edwards; ERIC THE RED; Fitzroy; GILES; Nomad; OTTO; Sharon Lycorish and all the other Gastonites 🥸 and ABLP acolytes.

    DIDN’T THINK SO …

Brixtonian dealing with the REAL issues that matters!

  14. Breaking News! What a thing!! “Another one bites the dust.” Should be renamed Track & Field Party (TFP) because every one seems to be running.

Sourcream, Man-cow and the She-Him may be the only ones left soon
