Air Canada Suspending Flights into Antigua and Barbuda

Dear Nationals and Friends,

The Consulate General wishes to forward for your attention, the attached letter concerning the upcoming suspension of Air Canada flights to Antigua and Barbuda.

The Antigua & Barbuda Tourism Board has been advised that Air Canada/Air Canada Vacations has made the decision to suspend flights to Antigua as of January 31st, 2022.

 

The Canadian Federal Government Advisory to Canadians to avoid all non-essential travel, has made it challenging for the airline to maintain its previously announced flight schedule leading to the suspension.

 

The airline will be working on cancelling each passenger’s file in order of departure dates over the next month and asked for our co-operation and patience.

 

Air Canada has expressed their appreciation for our understanding during these difficult times which are impacting the entire travel sector.

 

They have shared their confidence that the travel industry will continue to be resilient and by working together, we can overcome this most recent setback.

 

We at the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority wish to thank you for your support as we look forward to the future with optimism.

    • This has nothing to to with Antigua. It has to do with are Canadian government who have advised people not to travel. We are seeing %90 plus of are positive cases in fully Vax people. The numbers have the Government with egg on there face , with well over %80 of the population fully Vax. And a 30-40% positive rate. They have now stop testing any one who wants a test. Only the most Vulnerable will be tested.

  5. My wife and I are still planning to join all of the people of the Great Islands of Antigua and Barbuda this Jan. for a week. We worked very hard to get this trip to return for what will be our seventh visit and have made many friends during each visit. I is a sad time to hear that Air Canada will stop there flights. To be honest they were not our first choice but that is where we were left with. We work very hard on our farm to get a chance to take a break once a year. It long hours of work for fifty one weeks of the year and with the help of friends we are able to leave the farm behind for a week of beauty and friendly people. We are aware that my as many others that come to your island we are there lifeblood and how they make a living. We have done all we can to be safe we have all our shots and plan to have our masks ready to wear when needed. My question is how are people going to continue to have a decent life if they stop all the tours that come to the islands. Hoping to see you soon Tim S. On. Canada

    Go in 2022 . Air Canada is all about money and good showing for their share holders hopefully this is just a short term plan. Hopefully also WestJet and sunwing will take up the slack because Canadians don’t like flying through the USA anymore. So the government of Antigua can work on WestJet to increase flights.
