ABLP announces slate of candidates to contest next general elections

The ABLP held its third Executive Meeting in 2022 this evening, Friday March 25 2022, at its spanking new headquarters on Nugent Avenue, west of the YASCO Playing Field. The Political Leader, Honourable Gaston Browne; the Chairman, Honourable Chet Greene; and the First Vice Chairman, Honourable Samantha Marshall, conducted the legitimate meeting to which all Executive Members were invited.

One of the first items on the substantive agenda was to select the candidates of the ABLP for the general elections that are constitutionally due one year from today. Following prayers and opening remarks by the Chairman, the Executive heard from the ABLP Political Leader, Hon. Gaston Browne.

The Leader revealed that he was in receipt of a Report submitted by the ABLP Suitability Committee. Among its many findings and recommendations, the Report noted that Comrade Asot Michael was invited to appear before the Committee but declined. Hence, only Comrade Rawdon Turner from the St. Peter Constituency made an appearance to be interviewed by the Suitability Committee. Comrade Turner was declared suitable. Because he failed to appear, Comrade Michael was not considered and deemed un-suitable.

Regulation 14 of the ABLP Constitution governs this Suitability Committee and provides it with the authority to determine the suitability of prospective candidates when the number of candidates for any constituency is more than one.  Two letters from the attorney representing Comrade Asot Michael tried to utilize scare tactics to halt the procedure; however, the lawyer representing the leaders who had been sued by Comrade Asot Michael, assured the ABLP that a default judgment, issued by the High Court in March 2022, ruled that the issue of candidate suitability was not justiciable by a Court of Law.

The Political Leader summarized the remainder of the Report and proposed that the Executive determine the slate of candidates, identified by name. A motion was put to the Executive by the Chairman of the ABLP and the motion was loudly applauded and unanimously adopted  by all members of the Executive.

Several of the new candidates addressed the meeting, promising victory in the upcoming general elections. The meeting adjourned after 90 minutes, the most important decisions having been recorded, and the members of the Executive were jubilant.

UPP must do something to counter this polling. Word on the street that UPP will lose all Their seats. Eric has been publishing this polling for months and cannot be ignored. Someone name ANA SALOME is countering but it appears like something ANA just COOKED UP.

  6. Gastón you really really not paying the local contractors that provide goods and services, equipment rental to the government. The price of fuel increase and still no payment. As for equipment you gave CO William all the road work and they do not even hire 1 piece of equipment. They used our money, our lands you give them and purchase equipment. Antiguan equipment owners need to come together snd put a stopping to that. Public works with a bunch of qualified civil engineers stopped building roads. They are not even checking on the quality of work CO William doing. Look at the bridge that took years to build by the Halls on the South. Don’t tell me PWD could not build that instead of contracting it to CO Williams . Same with the road works around valley church area.
    So our locals contractors suffer, while the foreign business owners get paid. I am calling on the local contractors , service providers , locals businesses to put a stopping to this. Also I am calling on Antiguans to show the government that no amount of election bribery, no duty free concessions, no sidewalk work all of a sudden and Community road all of a sudden should be your reason for voting. Then when election done everything stop. Payments stop , contract na good anymore. Then following that the politicians became your biggest compilations. Gastón Browne – equipment owner and rent to government and getting paid, property rental to government and investors , boat rental, land swapping and sold to government , son collets 30,000.00 monthly from the treasury and he call it peanut change. These are enough allegations to send any politician in any domestic snd just country to Jail.

Walker has been exposed through the years as a pathological liar and I really hope the Barbuda people will vote this time around in their best interest. However, Knacyntar should not take things for granted. All the other candidates have done over the years, both in their constituency, and in their ministry an excellent job. Especially throughout the pandemic. Ensuring everyone received food packages. Labour ALL The WAY. 5 more years for sure. The common people in general seem very satisfied with the current government and want more of the same. There is more ot be done. It really is a dream team. Even Barbuda going Red this time.
