Barbuda People’s Movement (BPM) leader Trevor Walker has voiced concern about potential efforts from within the movement to undermine the Barbuda Council.
In a recent press statement, Walker vowed to prevent such actions from spreading within the movement.
While Walker did not specifically name anyone, his remarks appeared to be a response to criticisms from Gulliver Johnson, a member of the Barbuda Land Rights & Resources Committee. Johnson accused the BPM and the council of colluding to sell Barbuda lands, alleging that the council is not acting in the island’s best interests.
The BPM emphasized the availability of a democratic process for those who believe the council is not serving Barbuda’s people well.
They encouraged dissenters to participate in elections and add their names to the ballot.
Despite internal challenges, the BPM reaffirmed their commitment to advocating for Barbuda’s people, stating that they would persevere despite some members who promote disorder and deceit.

Walker… I say you are full of Shit…. shame! shame on you Trevor Walker.
Why? the Barbuda Land Rights & Resources Committee was formed out of frustration stemming from the unresponsiveness of you and The Barbuda Council.
The Barbuda Land Rights Committee has taken the position publicly and privately that The Barbuda Council must be protected. Walker, you seem to think the Barbuda Council should not be criticized.
Like another other elected individual or group, you are subjected to justifiable criticism.
The Council did not meet for almost a year. The Council has not responded to inquiries about meeting secretly with (Merbee?) a front for GB to sell off Barbuda’s land to some Eastern Europeans.
Others including Mr. Johnson has sort to inquire as to what’s going on, and you and the Council has stone walled them.
The latest criticism stems from the situation of Barbuda Council was gifted Solar Plant system by Middle Eastern interest associated with the UN. They offered train for Barbudans to run the run the power generation system of the Solar plant and the fuel back up system.
The Barbuda Council went to sleep and allowed Gaston to take over the plant that was gifted to the Barbuda people with training offered to run the plant on their own.
Why did you allow Gaston and incompetents at APUA to take over running the Barbuda power generation system?
The Barbuda Council is responsible for Infrastructure which includes power generation. This is among the criticisms by the Barbuda Land Rights and Resource Committee of the Barbuda Council.
We are not one happy family; there are numerous problems that needs to be addressed.
THE BARBUDA LANDS RIGHTS AND RESOURCE COMMITTE POSITION: IS THAT THE BARBUDA COUNCIL MUST BE PROTECTED.
The Council is not immune to justifiable criticism; and neither are you. Do your job Trevor and stop glad handing with Gaston Browne and smiling like a cheshire cat when you are in the company of Gaston Browne.
Let’s come together, tone it down, if you do not want to be further exposed.
It very interesting that both the Representative Trevor Walker and the Chairman of the Barbuda Council has resorted to the same style as Gaston Browne.
The Chairman of The Barbuda Council, Devon Warner has been reported to have issued a statement which says:
“There seems to be among us who thrive on anarchy and deception. The Council will not allow this to grow and fester”. Readers don’t these words sound similar to the words Gaston used against the Barbuda people?
Who is laying in bed with who here?
*CORRECTED

this JIM JONES, BROWN PAPERBAG GRABBING cult leader needs to go sit his arse down somehwere!!! The sole gas station owner who cussed out the mentally enslaved Codrington slaves…..Lands are vested in the CROWN, not in this clown!
UWI Five Islands just announced the expansion of their full degree program.
The expansion includes a full degree in Psychology due to the growing mental health crisis in Antigua
Please get some help. You desperately need it.
😲 Looks like a powderkeg is about to blow in Barbuda. Come on my Barbudan brothers and sisters — y’all are better than this — thrash out the grievances in private; and maintain your cohesiveness
Rather a powder keg, it’s a demonstration of citizens of the same political persuasion challenging their elected officials.
I don’t recall prominent members of ABLP challenging Gaston Browne of members of his cabinet in public on issues and policies of substance.
This is a demonstration about Barbudans having backbones, and Antiguans being spineless, they misconstrue what this is all about.
The BLM started out as Civil Society. Like many groups they lose their sense of purpose over time and become clones of the very institutions and actions they fought against.
Democracy calls for elected officials to be criticized when the situation requires it. That’s what healthy democracy is all about.
Mature individuals come together to address common interest. Sometimes issues need to be addressed and aired out in public, when those in power attempts to conduct business behind closed doors.
Unlike in Antigua where the Civil Society (The Church Leaders, The Lawyers, the Bankers, The Commerical and Trade Organizations) are in bed with the Government leaders. Barbudans are not afraid to express themselves, while Antiguans can only whisper among friends.
Antiguans live in a semi-authoritarian political environment, politically and mentally depressed. Barbudans are BRA.
The cowardice that is pervasive in Antigua does not exist in Barbuda. There is no place where a weak Civil Society will lead to a break down in democracy than in Haiti. Mr. Johnson, and other members of the Barbuda Land Rights & Resources Committee are The Barbuda Civil Society.
Hopefully, the Barbuda elected officials have been placed on notice; they will do the right thing this little spat will boil over shortly.
For those who wishes the Barbuda people harm; your disparagements, lies propaganda and misinformation; will not deter Barbudans, there will be surprises waiting for you.
Always an interesting read @ Barbuda J’aime, that’s why as a patriotic Antiguan, I rarely get involved in the politics of Barbuda.
Just wish we had the same backbone as the Barbudan’s; but change is coming …
WE’LL BE ON A PAR WITH YOU BY 2028 – WATCH AND SEE.
Enjoy your day 👍🏾
@BarbudaJ’aime…
You seem very angry and hateful. I wonder why you’re so triggered — to the point of insulting all Antiguans. Just because you come on this threat to spew your bile that makes you brave? Your are on here being anonymous like the rest of us. Show us how full of spine you are by commenting under your profile. Fyi, I’m not Antigua!
Commenting under your profile. seemingly you mean commenting under your name.
Surely, I stepped on your corn, and you seem to have lost your senses as a result.
You stated you are not from Antigua. interesting….so you are a migrant. Most migrants in Antigua and Barbuda are “grifters”. The grifters tend to support the ABLP political dogma, of keep them stupid, uneducated and begging.
I may be showing some anger towards some Antiguans, but I certainly don’t hate my people.
Many are victims of the ABLP political dogma which has produced a Nepo Baby and elite minority; and together with the Grifters, they prey on the underclass. ala Haiti, and most of the Caribbean and LATAM
Healthy democracies thrive and survive when Civil Society is engaged in uplifting ordinary people. Civil Society in Antigua is in bed with a corrupt government.
Civil Society pray with GOAB cabinet on Tuesdays where policies are enacted to suppress the people and the Religious Minister pray over them. Then they return to their churches on weekends and pray with the poor.
Other members of civil society rather than make a case and campaign in their everyday doings for transparency in Government operations; Hey keep their head down, stay quiet and hassle for what they can get.
May I repeat:
“Unlike in Antigua where the Civil Society (The Church Leaders, The Lawyers, the Bankers, The Commerical and Trade Organizations) are in bed with the Government leaders. Barbudans are not afraid to express themselves, while Antiguans can only whisper among friends.
Antiguans live in a semi-authoritarian political environment, politically and mentally depressed.” That is factual.
UWI Five Islands justifies their new degree program in Phycology as necessary to address the growing mental health problem on the island of Antigua.
BTW: Let’s compare Barbuda to English Harbour at another time.
You seem to have lost that this was a criticism of Trevor Walker, the Barbuda Parliamentary Representative.
When you comment under your real name, I’ll accede to you wishes and comment under my own name.
@Barbuda J’aime: Take aim, fire. Sometimes you hit, sometimes you miss. But once you have more ammo in your clip, you adjust your sights and fire again. When the smoke clears, we’ll see who’s left standing. Barbuda on the rise!
Trevor Walker is a political performer, and in that regard is not too different than Antiguan politicians. He rides on the Barbuda land issue in public. What he does behind closed doors is a different thing.
Barbudans will not allow him to sell them out. PERIOD! He sounds very much like Gaston Browne when he gets cornered. His critics are not interested in elected political office.
Trevor Walker response appear to be he should not be criticized. He fails in appreciating Barbuda is Barbuda and not Antigua. Barbudans stand up while others grumble quietly.
Unfortunately, he seemed to have lost sight of that fact, and have lost his way.
Barbudan activists are on the same side as Trevor Walker proports to be. They are fired up and ready to roll. They will not be excluded from policy discussions, the policy formations, and neither will they be silenced.
