‘Bozo Politics’ Not Fit for Modern Governance, Says Weston
Former Cabinet Minister Lennox Weston has delivered a scathing rebuke of the United Progressive Party (UPP), warning that Antigua and Barbuda faces the risk of being governed by individuals he claims lack the basic competence required to manage a modern state.
Speaking at an Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) rally on Friday night, Weston said the opposition’s leadership strategy was rooted in “Bozo politics” — elevating unqualified figures while sidelining more capable individuals in favour of political theatrics.
“We are about to put a man in charge whose proudest achievement is collecting dead dogs,” Weston told supporters. “And you expect this country to progress?”
He questioned the opposition’s credibility and accused the UPP of promoting personalities who are unable to effectively engage with policy, lawmaking, or governance.
“You tell your children they must study to succeed, but you are ready to elect people who did not take the time to learn the basics,” Weston said. “That sends the wrong message.”
Weston also alleged that the opposition’s leadership model was a smokescreen for more ambitious figures lurking behind the scenes, waiting to seize control without public accountability.
“This is not a game. Running a government is not a community clean-up. It requires skill, expertise, and a serious commitment to the public good,” he said.
The former minister’s remarks formed part of a broader defence of the ABLP’s record and an appeal to voters to remain vigilant against what he described as political gimmickry disguised as leadership.
“In this modern era, with all the global threats facing small states like ours, we cannot afford clownish leadership,” Weston said. “Antigua and Barbuda deserves better.”

The desperation of the ABLP acolytes to align and denigrate the UPP with the making of their own current and past problems is really quite laughable.
The real problem lies with these ABLP apologists and lickspittlers not taking Gaston Browne to task on a plethora of issues, when it was blatantly obvious that he was so out of touch with the general public.
Come on Weston, place the blame where it really lies; and when in the future the Prime Minister Browne messes up once again (and he will) … SAY SOMETHING NAH!

Lennox Weston is resurrected by the Gaston Browne Labor Party. Weston must be getting or going broke. He wants back in to collect a paycheck. Those Labor Party people would sell their souls for a dollar.
Need leaders who are both moral and educated. Secular schools need to keep religious traditions and allow students to see that education is not just about getting a good job and plenty money but about being of service, solving community problems, helping to build a sustainable future for all with all basic needs met. Christian schools need to advance their education systems to offer education at the highest levels and teach their children it’s ok to get a big time post. You can choose to give all your money away to avoid temptation, but having a high level post allows you to make a difference in many people’s lives in certain ways so they should establish tertiary Christian colleges and universities. UWI is alright as they are open minded and participate in both religious traditions and carnival. But, UWI doesn’t teach everything. If Christians/moral people don’t establish colleges to educate their children for higher level jobs then they may not have a seat at the decision-making table and can’t complain if they are rules by less scrupulous persons.
