Boys’ Training School Nears Completion as Plans Advance for New Juvenile Detention Centre

Work at the Boys’ Training School is ongoing, with upgrades planned in the 2025 Budget to improve living conditions.

Chief of Staff Lionel Hurst stated that internal work is nearly complete, with only furniture awaited and landscaping finished.

Meanwhile, discussions are progressing on retrofitting the Pan Am Base into a juvenile detention center, as juveniles are currently housed illegally at His Majesty’s Prison.

Hurst noted repairs may take time, but efforts are underway to expedite the process.

  1. Please proceed with all due possible haste because juveniles, regardless of their offense, should never be housed with adult offenders.

  5. It’s a burning shame that a court order had to be issued in order to get a juvenile resident to completed.

    Sometimes we have to wonder if our govt ministers lack that foresight and have sawdust in their cranium as their brains…..

    (b) …RESIDENTS WILL NOT BE CALLED JUVENILES.’

    Seemingly, ‘…LEGISLATIVE ABSURDITIES’ HAVE CHANGE THEM.’

    (b) …Rubber-Stamping Senators, have not only ‘…REPEALED’:

    (i) ‘…THE BOYS TRAINING SCHOOL ACT:

    (ii) …JUVENILES COURTS ACT,’ but also ‘…REPLÁCED’ with the ‘…NOT-NOW EFFECTIVE’ and ‘…ÇOUNTER-PRODUCTIVE ‘…CHILD JUSTICE ACT’ [No.23 of 2015: SECTION 88].

    TROUBLING LEGISLATIVE ABSURDITY

  7. How many times have we heard this? And to think,they were given grant money to complete this project. What a dirty,corrupt, tiefing government this ALP government is. This is why the DAWG wants to hold on to power. He’s ousted,and investigations will reveal why our country is so broke. SMH.
