Seedwork jewelry, fashioned from wild tamarind and jumbie beads, is one of Antigua and Barbuda’s unique artistic traditions. Once at risk of being lost, with only a handful of women practicing the skill, Botanique has revived this African-rooted craft and placed it firmly on the global stage.
Led by Louise Edwards, master seedwork artisan, alongside Botanique founder Anne Jonas and creative Mosia Challenger, these three-hour workshops will provide participants with a hands-on beginner’s introduction to seedwork.

Each seminar will begin with a three-minute film tracing the history and cultural meaning of the art, followed by guided practice using a specially prepared kit.
The collaboration with The Water’s Edge Museum, represented by co-directors Ja’Lyn Hicks and Sara Amber Marie Park, highlights the shared mission to preserve and promote heritage that transcends borders. Together, Botanique and The Water’s Edge bring forward narratives that celebrate creativity, resilience, and identity.
Workshops will run from October 3–5, mornings from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. A special illustrated lecture, “The Beauty of Antigua’s Intangible Cultural Heritage” will be presented by the Antiguan delegation— hosted in Dublin Castle’s State Apartments at 6:30 pm on Saturday evening, October 4.

Beautiful model and lovely artistic beaded creations
Lovely pieces worn beautifully by the model.
Is this being held in Antigua or Dublin?
You really mean that real art production by our people is colonized abroad and making wealth for someone else because there is no patent laws in our so call third world.
Just like they got to know about plants our ancestors used for medicine through our old people who they describe as uneducated, which they took and bottled it and resold it to us under a made up scientific word which is a no name.
This is ugly no offense
That all that you could contribute?
When you nah hab noting good fu say..Shut Up!!!
If the plants the bear the seeds continue to be lost to development and housing, the craft will be lost.
This is a reminder of the richness and creativity of Antiguan culture let’s keep it alive!
