A February court date has been set for 42-year-old Deon Lloyd, charged with the country’s first killing of the year.
Lloyd, of Lower Ottos, is accused of fatally shooting 35-year-old Javorn Williams during a confrontation at Boggy Peak on 2 January. Williams was pronounced dead at the scene.
The committal hearing is scheduled for 9 February 2026 before Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel. The matter was postponed after Lloyd’s recent court appearance.
Police arrested Lloyd while he was receiving medical treatment at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre. He remains in custody at His Majesty’s Prison.
