Reports say that a sergeant reported the matter to the Freetown Police Station on behalf of the victim, who claimed that a shot had been fired through a window at his home.

Officers reportedly went to Bethesda to make inquiries into the report.

There, the alleged victim told them he had been awakened by a loud noise at about 10:45 p.m.

When he went to check, he realized that there was a bullet hole in a northeastern bedroom window.

Officers observed what, indeed, appeared to be a bullet hole in the window frame from which the glass had been shattered.

Allegedly, the bullet was lodged in the ceiling of the bedroom.

A search for any suspicious person reportedly was carried out, but no one was found.

Meanwhile, fearful residents are asking “where all these guns are coming from” and calling on Minister of Public Safety Sir Steadroy Benjamin – as well as Commissioner of Police Atlee Rodney – to be more proactive.

“People are not safe leaving their business place. They’re not safe in their own homes,” a distressed retiree tells REAL News. “Where the Police? They need to be more visible! They need to be seen in order to prevent these shootings, and not just show up after,” she
complains.

The woman says she is seriously considering leaving Antigua for a European country where she feels safer, because the local situation appears to be hopeless.

  1. We need a State Of Emergency. Curfew can work. It is too much man. People go to work and expect to return home and get a good rest. It is not happening.

  2. The police themselves seems to be scared because I don’t understand and I just don’t get it. It’s not hard. Do patrolling at nights. Be on that patrol.

  3. The police and the Mr. Big belly Benjamin along the chief Mr. Rodney clearly cannot control the current wild wild west situation. 4. This must be a silly joke, none of these law enforcement agency ever think of striking a deal with these gun wielding thugs on reduce punishment or complete walk free if the divulge the source supplying the guns? Or that they already know but our constitution is anti black, it protects white people or any lighter color skin from scrutiny and our prison system, lawyer fuller was the go between in cases of white domestic issues not our police, do you think our black police going to go into white enclave and kick in door and search? As a matter of fact some of these Caucasian sponsor sports and other things and sound like great corporate citizen.
