Public Safety Minister Steadroy “Cutie” Benjamin has said that the police officers under whose watch the “vampire killer” escaped “must be made to answer.”
“This should not have happened in the first place,” Benjamin told Pointe FM.
He was making reference to the escape on Monday of Delano Forbes, who has been charged with three killings.
The minister blamed “a tremendous lack of judgment” on the part of the police for the escape.
“How could a person chained at the leg make an escape from officers who had responsibility for that particular prisoner,” Benjamin questioned.
A massive search is underway for Forbes who has been branded the vampire killer for the way he alleged drank the blood of his victims.
The minister is asking the public to report any sightings to the police. He has also warned against harbouring the escapee.

Mr Benjamin. Thank you for your piece. However you mentioned nothing of procedures. What will they answer too? .What is the normal procedure for escorting an alleged killer to the scene of a crime. ? And what will be done to ensure this never happens again.?

The family of the late Wilfred “Bongo” Williams is very disappointed at the escape of Delano Forbes. Pure nonsense at the HIGHEST DEGREE!!! I suggest officers start wearing plain clothes to do the search. Sit on the street corners as if they are villagers. Drastic measures need to take place. Beef up patrol not only in the day, he usually moves in the night.

Think they should utilize the drones that police & other local law agencies use to hunt marijuna on a daily basis to recapture this guy……… The police dogs also, are the dogs only used for hunting herb? The Minister is in charge of the Police!!! He directs them in mnay other cases. Serpent and Tabor were shackled for trumped up charges. How could a serial killer be on the loose for so long and we are living in fear every day and night.
