Bendals Men Charged After Weekend Drugs And Gun Seizure

Police have formally charged 31yr-old Troy Neeland Baptiste and 21yr-old Daiquan Kahtaj Martin both of Bendals for possession of 149 Cannabis plants, possession of 310.2 grams of cured Cannabis, Cultivation of Cannabis, possession of an Unlicensed  .380mm pistol and possession of eight rounds of .380mm ammunition.

Darren Craig Pelle, 28 of Bendals was also charged by police for having 1 ¾ pounds of cannabis in his possession and cultivation of thirty-five cannabis plants.

Meanwhile, Akeem Jahlan Richards of Bendals was charged with Possession of 165 Cannabis Plants, Cultivation of Cannabis, Being Concerned in the Supplying of Cannabis, Unlawful Possession of two Camouflage Jackets and pants.

On Friday, police carried out several intelligence-driven operations at Bendals and found the illegal items in their possession. They were all arrested and taken into custody. They are expected to make their first appearance before the Court on Monday.

  1. Tell me something editor. is it still the police that charge individuals of crimes or is the the Office of the DPP. I thought everything was taken out of the hands of the police. They are only to investigate the crime. Perhaps I am wrong. Just asking

    • Charges can be brought by any individual or entity. If the police bring a charge, the charge is made in the name of the Commissioner of Police. If it is done by the DPP, it is done in the name of the Director of Public Prosecutions. If the charge is made by a private person, it is done in his or her name.
