The keys to the state-of-the-art facility were handed over just moments ago by Managing Director of PLH, Justin Wilshaw, to the Operations Manager of the Authority, Rex Daly.

This handover marks the final step before the airport’s official opening ceremony, which is scheduled to take place tomorrow morning. The new airport promises to significantly enhance flight traffic between Antigua and its sister island Barbuda, paving the way for improved connectivity and economic growth.

Teams from the Antigua and Barbuda Airport Authority have been hard at work today, putting the finishing touches on the facility to ensure everything is perfect for the grand opening.

This new development represents an exciting new era for both islands, reinforcing the nation’s vision of “One Nation, Two Islands, Two Gateways.”

Stay tuned for more updates as we celebrate this major achievement and look forward to the many opportunities it will bring to the people of Antigua and Barbuda.

  1. What’s so state of the art about an airport that has tent roofs for terminal buildings and no air traffic control tower?

  2. This is welcoming news. Clear cut proof that as the dog barks the wagon rolls on. Wonder what waste ah time Franz had to say about it. Imagine he busy today speaking about non nationals who head offices in Antigua. He who spent most of his productive life overseas is lamenting about that. Just goes to show Franz is nothing but a waste and has lost his morning overseas.

  3. PLH will call the Shots at the Barbuda Airport asusual they have the Government and the Airport Authority in their Pockets.

  4. Yeah but does the Barbuda airport has it’s own Air Traffic Controllers to monitor the traffic of aircraft landing and taking off in Barbuda since Bsrbuda now has an international airport? Or maybe the Air Traffic Controllers here will monitor the airspace both for Antigua and Barbuda? Sounds very risky for me!!!🤨🤨🤨

  5. A MOMENTOUS OCCASION INDEED!!! GASTON BROWNE ADMINISTRATION big up ya self!!!!!

  6. What is the new name of the airport as the Burtons dont want their name associated with it….inquiring minds want to know🤔🤔….why not name it PLH INTL…just saying🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️….

  7. For those mentioning a lack of control tower, the airport authority and/or traffic necessitates whether or not a tower is required at any airport. Generally speaking, small airports don’t have towers because of the low volume of traffic.

Let’s be clear, the new airport will not be handling American Airlines, Delta or Air Canada flights anytime soon (if ever), just private jets carrying the ultra wealthy.

  8. No body tried to stop them they were encouraged and egged on where on this earth you will find some persons protesting against development that can lift the standard of living for its people and going to the courts where sensible people have to decide it just shows the backwardness and ignorance but our PM stood his ground and fought with these rattler snakes some of whom would show uo to see if it’s really happening tomorrow and feel no remorse for their actions to stop this lifeline of a project that will bring millions of dollars to its people may God blessed Antigua and Barbuda and our PM.

  9. THE GASTON BROWNE’S GOV’T HAVE KEPT THEIR WORDS. ” PROMISED MADE…. PROMISE KEPT “……

Antigua & Barbuda is sure becoming an Economic Powerhouse.

  10. Kudos to the GB administration for continuing to put the people of A&B first and not bothering with the haters. I remember when persons lambaste the government for not developing Barbuda, now the cry by some is they prefer to be left alone. Stagnation is not a good thing, since it brings death and decay

  11. LABOUR WE LOVE. LABOUR DELIVERS!!! LEGACY OF VC BIRD LIVES ON!!
