REAL NEWS – Due to the constant destructive human activities taking place on the sister island, the sandbar in Barbuda is still struggling to repair itself, says Councilman John Mussington.
The mangrove sustained a breach over six years ago from the devastating Hurricane Irma, and, reportedly, its condition is basically the same.
Mussington says that under normal circumstances the sandbar would have healed itself; but due to the development in the area, healing is taking a much longer time to achieve.
He says the nearby hotel development and several other projects have compromised the sand bar in terms of its ability to function in the way it should.
According to the Councilman, the authorities should seek to stop destroying Barbuda and its environment.

Well highlighted councilman John Mussington.
Barbuda – in recent years – have been decimated by the constant developments by the super rich and corporate entities that still to this day are destroying our land, protective mangroves and eco-system.
Also, In Antigua, there doesn’t seems to be any corporate responsibilities; whilst in Barbuda it comes over as a ‘free-for-all for businesses working there.
All we ask from the government, is that they keep a watchful eye by putting the right people in the right places to monitor bad practices.
Why can’t this government do their due diligence?
This is akin to building your family home and allowing the builders to do carte blanche to do as they please without you being present. Tarl!!!
