Prime Minister Gaston Browne has called on the Barbuda Council to use revenue generated from the Peace Love and Happiness (PLH) development project to settle outstanding payments owed to public workers and pensioners, rather than focusing on infrastructure projects.

Browne revealed that PLH has contributed approximately $1.3 million in Antigua and Barbuda Sales Tax (ABST) payments on membership dues alone, yet the Council continues to claim financial strain. He questioned why the Council has not prioritized using these funds to address overdue salaries and pension payments.

“The Barbuda Council has collected millions from PLH, yet they still refuse to pay workers what they’re owed,” Browne said. “Instead of making sure pensioners and public servants are taken care of, they want to build roads, likely to secure kickbacks.”

The Prime Minister accused the Council of mismanaging public funds and suggested that its financial struggles are self-inflicted. He pointed out that by the end of this year, the Council would have collected at least $6 million from PLH, in addition to the central government’s subsidies, making it unreasonable for them to continue claiming financial hardship.

Browne also criticized the Council for its stance on PLH, arguing that while it publicly opposes the project, it continues to benefit from its revenue.

“They claim they have no money, but they’re not sending back the checks,” he remarked. “They are resisting investment and development while taking the money. How do you rationalize that?”

The Prime Minister urged Barbuda residents to demand transparency from their local representatives, stating that the central government will continue to monitor the situation closely.

  1. As The Barbuda Council elections scheduled for March one can expect Gaston Brown and his ALBP to ramp up the lies, propaganda and misinformation.

ALBP candidates went on platform a little over a week ago talking about infrastructure neglect by BPM.
In his fakehoods and falsehoods about payments to Barbuda he left out the over due secondments outstanding by his Administration to Barbuda.

Bottomline Gaston and his ALBP is saying they will build infrastructure if elected, and BPM should not for they may be looking for kickbacks.
Message to Gaston Brown: not everyone is looking or get kickback like you and your party, when they build infrastructure projects.

With the fourty percent 40% increase in vehicle registration supposably to build roads.
And given Mr. Prime Minister that you associate infrastructure developments with kickbacks. How much of the 40% increase is to cover your kickbacks?

  2. @Teacher for Life and the others like Juju and anonymous among you trolling for Gaston.
Barbudans prefer to keep an inefficient and sometimes dysfunctional BPM led Council than to have an ABLP led Council
    Why ?
Barbudabs know that The ALBP only interest is to chop them up and feed the to pirates and vultures.
If you had those choices you would do the same.

  3. @ Barbuda I love……??? Barbuda j’aime…..???
Like a true chameleon, you keep changing your identity. So you’re not historically an enslaved West African PURCHASED in ANTIGUA by slave owner Codrington for his estates in Antigua AND Barbuda? So you’re not a descendant of the slave population sent there by your former slave master Codrington, a man who despised his stock to the extent that he locked them up nightly in the village pen with strict orders to shoot on sight anyone who dated to chance outside the stone pen erected to contain the slave population. So you’re not a descendant of Codrington’s social/genetic experiment in which he reserved certain of his slave stock for genetic experimentation to produce a specific breed of ‘slave’ for sale benefits. So you’re not a descendant of the non-experiment class who were described as thieving rogues, thieves and vagabonds for daring to challenge your slave master for the proceeds taken off European treasure vessels which often ended up shipwrecked among the reefs that surround Barbuda back in the colonial era. So you were not a descendant of that slave population who hightail it back to Britain once he realized that emancipation was a reality, grabbing whatever share of the compensation offered by Britain for loss of property. He abandoned his holdings in Barbuda, didn’t give a damn for the ex-slaves left roaming the island. Barbuda was not even mentioned in the Emancipation proclamation of 1833, it being considered a mere outpost of Antigua. So you’re now posing as an heir of the said slave owner claiming that he, like the benevolent and caring father he was, willed the island to its descendants. So today we are Frenchmen! What a joke! Everybody knows how much you hate the Frenchman as much as he hates you! Poor soul. Know thyself! Understand your roots. Only then will you find peace within and manifest some wisdom for a change!

  4. Gaston TRUMP Brown is trying to shake down the Barbuda s with a carrot and stick approach
TRUMP tells the world Ekraine started the war and left them out of the negotiations the very same time Trump and his team is shaking down the Ekraine for their precious minerals.
No differently Gaston “TRUMP” Brown shows how little he knows about Barbuda and Barbudans.
Like Donald Trump who says things and one may think “How can he say that shit? It’s such a lie”. The same with Gaston Trump Brown.
Pensioners in Antigua aren’t getting paid, LIAT former employees aren’t getting their pension, but Gaston Trump Brown is worried about Barbuda Council workers pay.
Gaston Trump Brown shows how little he knows about Barbuda.
Message to Gaston Trump Brown: “When Barbudans get their delayed pay in a lump sum that goes into another phase of building their houses.
No mortgages no foreclosures no auctions of their homes
Getting paid late from the Council It’s like Box money”. Box money that no Jamaican can run away with.
That’s why Barbudans need their farm lands, and not houses built for imported labors pretending it’s for Barbudans.
Barbudans need their fishing beds, to stay clean from mega developments on steroids.

  5. @Faithful national #1
To the degree I use a moniker “Barbuda J’AIME which reflects my thoughts about the island.
The subject matter is Gaston Trump Brown statement about the Council and Barbudand not getting paid in a timly fashion as well as other issues.
The history and containment of Barbudans including “the Wire Line” is well known. Your interpretation of Barbudas history is not the issue.
The subject matter is Gaston Trump Brown feeble attempt to influence the upcoming Barbuda Council elections.

  6. @ Faithful national #1
So what are my other identities that you know of?
Expose them and if you disagree with my musing then address them with the information that you are aware of.

FYI: Commentators like me and you troll on a site that’s a chameleon by your definition due to its publicly unknown origins.
Counter my comments with arguments of merit otherwise … It’s laughable what you write

  7. Ok so Gaston blogging in different names making PLH the knight in shining armor to the rescue for winning the Barbuda council election by suggesting PLH pay salary that he himself is holding back from the council after they duly submitted the tax revenue collected on Barbuda to the Antigua government treasury consolidated funds.you can’t make this up.
