Barbuda Local Government Elections are set to take place on Monday, 29th March, 2021.
In light of this, the deadline for new registrants to register, to be eligible to vote in the March 2021 Barbuda Council Elections, is January 31st 2021.
This announcement comes from the Supervisor of Elections, Dame Lorna Simon.
The Barbuda Local Government Act (Cap 44) outlines the provisions for the conduct of Barbuda Council Elections. The elections are constitutionally due to take place every two years.
The Supervisor of Elections by the appointment of the Governor General, is in charge of the conduct of the Elections. This will then be followed by the appointment of a Returning Officer, Presiding Officers and Poll Clerks for the purpose of the Elections.
The name of eligible voters will appear on the Register of Electors and only those persons, will be entitled to cast their ballot. Voters will be required to use their Electoral Identification Card in the election.
There are eleven (11) seats on the Barbuda Council, however this year only FIVE (5) seats will be contested.
