NATION NEWS: In Barbados, the government is set to launch an app that will allow citizens to report public service issues such as potholes, water outages, waste disposal and other concerns directly from their mobile devices.
The platform, called Pearly App, is to be launched on Tuesday.
The Mia Mottley administration says users will be able to submit photos, videos, written descriptions and location data.
Reports will be routed to the relevant government agencies for follow-up and resolution.
The platform also includes features for tracking issues and submitting emergency reports.
The administration says it’s part of its push to modernise public service delivery and improve citizen engagement through digital technology.

The Renaissance: I know a local guy developed the ReportMyRoad app for Antigua a few years ago but don’t remember how, if at all, Public Works responded to it.
Most large cities in the US have an app or phone number (311) to report potholes and other non-emergency issues to the local government but depending on where you live, some municipalities are more responsive than others in making repairs while others are overwhelmed by the volume of requests or the app simply crashes and doesn’t work correctly like it has in Washington DC for the last few months.
The APP will crash if Antigua were to do that.
