Barbados’ Prime Minister Mia Mottley has endorsed the removal of Neil Rowe from his deputy speaker role in Parliament, citing his need to address an ongoing legal matter in the High Court.

Rowe is facing trial following allegations of engaging in non-consensual sexual intercourse in September 2022.

The ruling Barbados Labour Party, holding all 30 parliamentary seats, unanimously passed a motion to revoke Rowe’s deputy speaker appointment, leading to his immediate removal.
