The Antigua Barbuda Bankers Association has officially rebranded as the Antigua Barbuda Montserrat Bankers Association (ABMBA), reflecting its expanded scope and commitment to the financial sector in the region.
The announcement comes as the association welcomes its newest member, The Bank of Montserrat, and enhances its digital presence with new Facebook and Instagram pages aimed at engaging with stakeholders.
New leadership at ABMBA
The ABMBA has also appointed a new president, Karen Richardson, General Manager of Caribbean Union Bank. She will lead the newly formed Board of Directors, comprising representatives from ACB Caribbean, Bank of Montserrat, Caribbean Union Bank, CIBC Caribbean, Eastern Caribbean Amalgamated Bank, and Finance and Development Company Ltd.
Outgoing President Ladesa James-Williams, Director of Retail Sales OECS and Country Head Antigua at CIBC Caribbean, extended her congratulations to Mrs Richardson, saying: “Congratulations to our new President, Karen Richardson, who I know will have a successful and impactful tenure.
Thank you to the outgoing committee for their dedication and support over the last few years.
The work of the ABMBA continues in earnest, focusing on community engagement, financial and digital literacy, and working to ensure a more inclusive and resilient financial future for our people.”
Commitment to collaboration and progress
The transition symbolises ABMBA’s dedication to strengthening trust within the financial sector and fostering collaboration across Antigua, Barbuda, and Montserrat.
Mrs Richardson said: “Our mission is to showcase how the licensed financial institutions in Antigua, Barbuda, and Montserrat can be collective partners in progress by fostering closer dialogue with our customers and stakeholders, simplifying processes, improving accessibility to financial services, and impacting our communities through collaborative social programmes.”B
As ABMBA embarks on this new chapter, it has pledged to prioritise communication, education, and transparency with stakeholders, ensuring a positive impact on both the local economy and the wider Eastern Caribbean Currency Union.
