SOURCE: CARIBBEAN LOOP NEWS- Forty-one-year-old customer service representative Winsome Smith of Poinciana Drive, Cedar Grove, St Catherine, has been charged with unauthorised access to computer data and simple larceny following a number of incidents in Kingston and Portmore between May 9 and May 28 of this year.

Reports from the Portmore police are that on Friday, May 9, a man visited a bank in Portmore and tried to withdraw a sum of money from his account.

He reported failed to complete the transaction and the issue was reported to the bank and assistance was sought to effect the withdrawal.

Smith reportedly replaced the man’s bankcard and assisted him to withdraw $100,000 from his account.

The man reportedly encountered the same issue on another date, and was again assisted by Smith, who again replaced the card.

Sometime later, the man’s daughter discovered that the account balance was less than it should be, and a report was made to the police.

Following an investigation, it was discovered that the now accused woman had withdrawn $1.4 million from the account.

She was taken into custody and charged on Wednesday, June 4.

She is scheduled to appear in the St Catherine Parish Court on Friday, July 4.
