Bachelor’s Program in Generative Pharmacy Set to Launch at UWI Five Islands Campus

The University of the West Indies (UWI) Five Islands Campus is poised to unveil a pioneering Bachelor’s program in Generative Pharmacy, aimed at combatting the country’s acute shortage of pharmacists.

Dr. Curtis Charles, the Director of Academic Affairs at UWI Five Islands, emphasizes the urgency of this initiative.

Currently, only a quarter of the nation’s pharmacists hold the necessary first-degree qualifications, with a significant number of them being non-native professionals.

Dr. Charles highlights the critical role this program plays in bridging language and cultural gaps.

It focuses on leveraging artificial intelligence for cutting-edge drug development, enabling the creation of precise medications tailored to individual biological systems.

This endeavor signifies a remarkable leap in addressing healthcare needs and fostering innovation in pharmacy.
