The Pesticides and Toxic Chemicals Control Board (PTCCB), as part of its management
strategy in the use of rodenticide, hereby informs the general public that effective immediately the unauthorized repackaging of rodenticide is prohibited.
Rodent bait products are to be retailed in its original packaging unless authorized by the
PTCCB.
In accordance with the Pesticides and Toxic Chemicals Act, No. 12 of 2008, and its
Regulations, it is an unlawful practice to engage in the repacking of chemicals not in keeping with the provisions of Annex 4 of the Regulations. The unauthorized repackaging of pesticides and toxic chemicals products represents a potential hazard to human health and the environment.
Also, the removal of such products from their original packaging circumvents
the associated safety features of the packaging, which poses a potential health risk and may compromise the efficacy of the product.
The general public is hereby reminded that unauthorized repackaging of pesticides and toxic chemicals is an offence, and is liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding $25,000.00 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 12 months, or any combination of both.
