Authorities Arrest Returning Resident in Airport Drug Seizure

A 40-year-old Antiguan man was arrested Friday at V.C. Bird International Airport after officers allegedly found cannabis in his suitcase during a joint drug interdiction operation.

Police say the returning resident, who arrived on United Airlines flight UA2020 around 3:30 p.m., was stopped by members of the Narcotics Department, K9 Unit and Customs Enforcement Unit.

A search of his Nautica suitcase reportedly uncovered two transparent tubes containing about 22 grams of suspected cannabis, valued at roughly EC$291.

He was taken to Police Headquarters along with the seized items as investigations continue. Authorities say similar operations remain ongoing as part of efforts to curb drug trafficking.

  1. Lol. You just have to laugh. 22 Grams, really?

the man obviously wanted to smoke his own brand of weed, instead of the trash that’s circulating the streets of Antigua. 😂.

Big big buss at the airport..yeah right.. 😂

  2. The man knows that what’s in the streets of Antigua is laced with crack, so he walked with his own…HAHAHAHA

Let the man go home and smoke his weed.

    Big Joke

  3. Really. 22 grams? Not even a full oz and he’s drug trafficking? Smh boi. 22 grams in two TRANSPARENT tubes , man wasn’t even trying to hide it … waste of time really. Y’all let that man go enjoy his vacation.

  4. All kind murders, robbery, rapes happen here in Antigua an y’all can’t figure out nothing stop harassing people 22 grams come better than that mon go look hard work for do

  5. Police only doing their work and it is not legal to travel with Marjuana without a medical certificate…That amount is most likely for personal use or maybe give a bredrine or family member a smoke..I hope they just give him a good warning and let him go with his smoke…

  6. Look what he is putting himself through for 22 grams of weed worth $291. Is it worth it? The stupidity of some people. You coming back home and weed is not scarce on the island . You could have gotten that and more at home in no time. To attempt to test the local customs and immigration is nothing short of madness.

  7. What is the cost of prosecuting him for 22 grams? Since when 22 grams cost $291?

If that was a white person going to a hotel reprimand and discharge.

    Black man fined $1 k.

  8. If only the police can find the criminal like murderers and thieves like they could find drugs!
I believe they bingo when it’s drugs.
