Austria and Antigua to forge closer relations

The Government of Antigua and Barbuda says Austria has expressed interest in cooperating with the twin-island state in the areas of tourism and diplomatic training.

This was conveyed in a statement on Saturday,  to Prime Minister Gaston Browne during a visit to Antigua and Barbuda by Marianne Feldman, Ambassador of Austria to the Eastern Caribbean.

“In his response, Browne reaffirmed Antigua and Barbuda’s full commitment to cooperating with the Austrian Government,” the Antigua and Barbuda Government statement said.

“He further made a request to the Ambassador of Austria to consider opening an Embassy in Antigua and Barbuda,” it added.

Feldman recently presented letters of credence to Governor General Sir Rodney Williams.

Antigua and Barbuda and Austria formally established diplomatic relations on March 25, 1985.
