The snails found on Fort James beach are not the dreaded Giant African Snails.

The student who contacted ANR said they were hoping that they are NOT the Giant African Snails.
Late Thursday afternoon a professor told ABN they may be Australian Zebra Snails.

Identification: The Zebra Snail has a black-and-white striped pattern on the shell. Environmental conditions as well as diet affect the width and colouring of the stripes.

Distribution: The Zebra snail is found in south-eastern Australia from Townsville in Queensland to Geraldton in Western Australia.

If them snails (Antigua Whelks) know wha good fu dem, them better grow foot and run. They will not last a second. I wonder if the AUA man want a seaman friend?
