Attorney John Fuller Dies

John Fuller

Tributes are pouring in at this hour following the death of leading attorney and environmentalist John Fuller.

Fuller died at his home in Hodges Bay which is a mile from where he was born; he was 75.

Fuller started practicing law in the early 1970s and will be remembered, not only for his contribution to the country’s jurisprudence, but also for his altruism as he represented several people of little or no means on a pro bono basis.

His son, Eli Fuller remembers him as one of the few real patriots.

Tributes and condolences have been led by the Antigua and Barbuda Bar Association.

  1. Very sad indeed. We have lost one of our finest legal luminaries. He was always willing to assist junior lawyers and his hallmark trait was the assistance he would provide to ordinary men and women freely. I observe this firsthand since I worked with him for awhile. He was a fine gentleman and a good citizen. Condolences to the family. You will be missed by your colleagues at the Bar.

  2. It’s a path we all will travel. “It is APPOINTED unto man once to die, but after this the judgement” (Hebrews 9:27)
Condolences to his family and loved ones. May you all take comfort in the promise of the Most High found in Revelation 21:4

  3. Condolences to the entire Fuller family, to the members of the Bar Association and all whom his life impacted over these many years.
John was a humble man and carried himself that way. He walked with the lowliest just as easily as he would those in the highest brackets of society and treated all the same.
Quick to lend his legal luminesce but beware of getting on his bad side. He was Antiguan through and through and will be dearly missed.

  4. What sad news for the loss of my good friend and brother. My heart and prayers to his wife, brothers and sisters, and children. Antigua’s loss is heaven’s gain. Fly high John!

  5. Fuller was one of our finest legal luminaries. He would be remember not only for his debating skills and his depth knowledge of the law but he would be remembered a caucasian or white who obviously had a white complexion but a black heart and mind. He was an Antiguan to the core. He was also very jovial and had personality that was not intimidating as a lawyer but a personality that would even welcome the common man. His death has now created a void. He will certainly be missed. My condolences goes out to his family….. May his soul rest in eternal peace

  7. I’ll miss seeing him driving his white pickup while smoking a cigarette, never passed me without a toot. Condolences to his friends and family.

  8. My thoughts are with his family and friends. His knowledge of all things Antiguan past and present was boundless as was his humour . He will be a great loss to Antigua and I feel privileged have known him.

  9. So desperately sorry to hear the sad news of the passing of John. He was always a joy to be with as he was humourus and interesting being so knowledgeable on an amazing number of subjects. He will be missed by all who were lucky enough to have known him. Sincere condolences for all the Fuller family who have lost a treasure.

  10. He was certainly one of Antigua’s finest. Can somebody tell us something of the history of the Fullers in Antigua? Are they descendants of the plantation owners? Rest in peace.

    • BETTYS HOPE a person who would be in a good position to answer your question is Paddy ” the griot” Simon.

  11. John Fuller: I knew of him first in Wimbledon, England. He became friendly with Tony Roles, and after a couple of years my parents moved to Antigua in 1967. I married Tony.
My Father Peter Baldwin of Lindsay Hill held him in very high regard. Especially, one one occasion my Fathers Alsatian Max had been “abducted”..John got on the case and found where Max was. Waited for the right moment as called out “Max” whereupon Max barked & was retrieved! My thoughts are with you all.

  12. I remember John well from the 1960s – 80s. He was a good friend and, in particular, he did me one enormous favour in a quasi-legal situation.

Someone asked about his origins. His father, Nick Fuller was an American who settled in Antigua and owned a hotel (The Lord Nelson?) on the North Coast.

My condolences to all his family.
