Attorney General Advocates for Promotion of Police Welfare Association Leader
Attorney General and Public Safety Minister, Hon. Sir Steadroy Benjamin, has called for the promotion of Police Welfare Association Chairman, Corporal Marilyn Harris, citing her outstanding service and leadership.
During the opening ceremony of the Caribbean Federation of Police Welfare Associations in Antigua and Barbuda, Benjamin praised Harris for her tireless dedication to the force and her role in advocating for police officers’ welfare.
He stressed the importance of recognizing her contributions, stating, “Marilyn Harris ought not to remain a Corporal… This Minister shall give honor where honor is due.”
Benjamin’s comments were met with support as he highlighted the need to reward hard work within law enforcement ranks.

Hard work should be credited.
The Minister using the ignorance of the public to put that she should be promoted out there. Anything above Corporal is in the Police Service Commission hands and he the Minister knows that it is like and prefer with them. The Police Commissioner can recommend all til he out of breath, they are the ones who decide who get promoted to Sergeant! He have the power to get her promoted just like he push his son in law to get fast tracked to Senior Sergeant above more qualified, hard working and deserving people! He too dangerous!
Congratulations you do take your work serious am proud of you My friend keep the good work up

@Truth be told:
Why are we like this? Why? I just don’t understand why we complain about everything, like everything. This is disheartening in many ways, there is no celebration of our people even when we know it’s right.
What contribution have you made to warrant promotion?
You disgust me.
She should be rewarded and awarded for her outstanding work and service to our nation. We should always recognize those who contribute to nation building. Yes, there maybe instances of bias but that should not prevent us from rewarding and recognising the achievements of others.
@Dave Ray If you read to understand, you would clearly see that there are no objections to the honourable Bedspread advocating for Ms. Harris’s promotion. She has worked hard! However, the politically appointed old relics and people who know nothing of who work hard and who should be promoted members of the PSC and the same Bedspread have it in their power to promote a hard working woman. So stick to your version of cooking!
Well highlighted @ Truth Be Told, nepotism and cronyism continues to stifle Antigua & Barbuda; furthermore, Marilyn Harris should have been promoted from time.
I hope the delay wasn’t because she’s a female.
She should have been promoted long ago!! 29 years of dedicated unwavering service to the ABPF!! She can represent the force to the highest standard on every level!! She has complete and has been top of nearly every workshop and training rendered to the force. Always willing to help citizens and the ABPF members as the chairman of the police welfare association. Ms Harris stand up for what is right no matter what or who might be displeased with her doing so. All of her hard work should be rewarded not with Sargent or even senior Sargent but inspector rank and up!! Signed by her proud daughter!!
Bravo! Bravo! Bravo, AG!! Are you only now aware of her victimisation? You know thatbthe PSC that you appointed said that she woukd never get promotion because of her political views. Her political views have not come in the way of her performance. Yiu son in law who had half her service is a senior sergeant. Were you aware of that? Did you instruct that your son in law be promoted to his present rank? Didn’t you call the former commissioner asking that your son in law be promoted and he vehemently objected? When you used the opportunity to look good and gain political.mileage you should look in the mirror abd see who has her perishing and suffering. By what criterion did your son in law make it to his present rank ahead of more rounder officers who have been in the service and giving their all for more than thirty years. Can your orderly who you also fast tracked to the rank of senior sergeant teach Corporal Harris anything? No. Never. You hypocrite!!!!!
She should skip Sgt and become an Insp she is indeed a dedicated hard worker…Congratulations Ms. Harris
Hmmmm
she deserves a promtion… stop giving her a hard time because she ain’t bending over and going on her knees in the offices like the rest of you!!

One if the best superintendent of police was the late D. Christopher. Can she be the next???
I can empathize with this woman and her hard work, especially in Antigua where fossils think everything must remain static, I worked abroad in the BVI electricity corporation as a linesman, of which I resign from Apua and went there to get further experience been so enthused, upon returning and got back into Apua, they will use me for what I can do, but don’t think you should climb the rank as them, they are threatened, so the lady Harris will probably be more articulate than some in the inspector uniform, i see inspector of police bleaching themselves which shows a sign of lack of intelligence, to engage in salacious matters while leading subordinates who you want respect from, but I remain contented to this day that I have impacted more lives and brought changes to the physical infrastructure in Apua that is benefiting financially and technically to this day, and their human resources also impacted from the skill and technical knowledge I imparted, been a well respected top linesman in the Bviec also, spoken of up to this day in the BVI.
