Concerned Neighbour Raises Alarm After Armed Men Storm Cashew Hill Home
A Cashew Hill resident is calling for urgent police action and neighbourhood security after four masked men forced their way into the home of a young woman and her father early Thursday morning, December 4.
According to the neighbour, the incident unfolded around 6:50 a.m. when Shabo Nedwell’s father was in the yard and heard the chain on his gate rattling. He reportedly looked over and saw two masked men approaching him with guns, demanding his “big gold chain.”
He told them, “wa gold chain u a tell me bout, just come out of my yard.” One of the men allegedly pulled off his bracelet while the father pushed the gun away from his face and struggled with the intruder. The second armed man kept a gun pointed at him throughout the confrontation.
Unbeknownst to him, two additional masked men were reportedly climbing over the gate. Those men, the neighbour said, made their way onto the gallery and kicked down the door, breaking the glass and gaining entry into the home where Shabo was inside.
A neighbour who heard the commotion came over, causing the armed men to flee. They reportedly jumped back over the gate and ran to a white Vitz parked two streets away.
The family reported no items missing, but the neighbour described the ordeal as deeply traumatic for Shabo, who was previously attacked by four pit bulls at her aunt’s home two months ago.
“An hour after the break-in, I saw this young lady try to pull herself together and went to work,” the neighbour wrote. “Her father raised such a strong lady because I would not have left my house.”
The neighbour said the community is shaken, questioning why four armed men targeted one home and took nothing. “He definitely put up a fight but he could have died in the process,” the statement added. “We are scared in this neighborhood now. We need cameras and protection in Cashew Hill.”

A concerned neighbour
