The Department of Environment will host Arbour Day 2025 on November 27 under the theme “Buzzing with Power – Planting Trees for a Climate-Smart Future.”
The annual tree-planting event will begin at 9 a.m. on the Department of Environment (DOE) Lawn, encouraging residents to play their part in environmental conservation and climate resilience.
A wide variety of fruit trees will be available for purchase, including coconut, custard apple, raspberry, soursop, guava, and pomegranate. Plant bags will be sold for $2.50 each, and participants can exchange two bags for a tree.
In addition to plant sales, the event will feature music, food and drinks, prizes, and climate change workshops designed to raise awareness about sustainable living and reforestation.
Officials say the activity aims to inspire communities to take practical steps toward a greener Antigua and Barbuda by promoting the planting of climate-resilient fruit trees.
